I haven't actually but I have seen some of the characters shared around. Read the wiki on The Last Comer and it's a bit outside of what I'd play but the other ones seem interesting, never actually played a fan game before. I'm happy that there are more foreign (to a Jap) inspired characters being introduced now though, I like Chiyari for playing into the chupacabra stuff, though she always looked like a crackhead from Appalachia to me.

Fangames are great; they cover virtually every genre conceivable, from other danmaku vertical shooters to RPGs, like Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia, an homage to retro Shin Megami Tensei.

I'm currently playing Lost Branch of Legend, a deckbuilder roguelike that's still in early access, and it's pretty addicting. Still waiting on story mode to come out.

I could go on and on.
 
Ever since this thread brought up the fangames I am losing my mind trying to find an earworm of a piece from some fanmade danmaku mimic of the mainline games. I think it was a stage three piece and the Youtube thumbnail had a yellowy picture of a character that might have been or just looked like Marisa. A beautiful melody with the same flutes ZUN uses in The Gensokyo the Gods Loved, and of course the Romantic TP. And I will never hear it again because the amount of spinoff content is an unsearchable bottomless pit.
 
4cuck users are so fucking obsessed with Touhou, they start creaming their clitties at the mention of some random obscure irrelevant touhou fanmade 2009 Japanese found lost media where some 11-year-old anime girl jumps around a little to a tranny oldfag with an ear-raping hyperpop nightcore song in the background
