What do you think about how every dumass character from any franchise is getting turned into a fumo nowadays?
The otaku merch companies making Fumo clones are simply cashing in on what's trendy. Nothing new under the sun, as is for animation studios making a shit load of isekai shows from that genre boom in the 2010s.
Having said that, I find the custom ones made by crafty doll-makers, like with our
@anliteralidiot making her own, to be fun. It can be quite charming if there's appreciation for the amount of time and effort put into creating those kind of things, actually. I know I've seen a few here and there that are well done.
Ever since fumos became popular to tourists I have seen far too many tourists referring to any ordinary plush as a fumo. I would prefer fumos stay Touhou related, mixing dipshits in from other fanbases cannot go well
Kind of too little too late for that, my friend. If what I've seen on children's platforms like Roblox is anything to go by... with their Become Fumo, Limbus Company, Project Moon, Blue Archive, Black Souls, and other similar themed games getting merged into one big hunk of slop, the lowest common denominator has already broken in years ago.

This makes me wish we had someone from Japan who can tell us more about these groups and their past shenanigans. The artists and adjacent coomers, who are openly public about their weird quirks, are the few things we can seek out easily. But the great and juicy stuff is either locked away or has long been deleted. One of these days, maybe I can go further along with this idea and get something from it.
