I know all that. I'm not talking about full-on loredumps and sagas, just recognize then as characters in-universe. The names by themselves are not even the problem.

I guess the fandom already did that, so ZUN doesn't bother.
They did get official reference and description in Whispered Oracle, and official abilities and the like. But he deliberately didn’t name them at that time.

It’s also worth noting that Zun really didn’t expect koakuma and daiyousei to be considered noteworthy characters, and basically every pure midboss since has gotten much better characterisation to pre-empt it. Lily White, Tewi, Momiji, Kisume, Tojiko, and of course Tsukasa are full 2hus, and many have made deliberate and repeat appearances.

I'd say this is probably the only one that's really a full 2hu, with maybe Tojiko alongside her. Tojiko has actual speaking parts in the manga and Tsukasa is actually playable.
-Momiji’s had a speaking role in a few things, most notably Alternative Facts in Eastern Utopia. She tends to show up whenever aya does, including in Double Spoiler.
- Kisume also returned in Double Spoiler, and has an article dedicated to her in symposium of post mysticism.
- Lily White reappears mainly as a recurring midboss, in GFW, PoFV and HSiFS. She also had a prominent appearance in Strange and Bright Nature Deity.
-Shizuha I forgot to mention the first time, and she’s probably the worst treated, but even she gets a little time for her own in Grimoire of Usami.

The fact Daiyousei and Koakuma are just big fairy and little demon to this day pisses me off. I mean, I am extremely grateful for Touhou existing, but can't ZUN develop certain things better, even if just a little? Some characters are entirely fan made even after so much time.

His hands-off approach is both a blessing and a curse.
Man didn't even know who Daiyousei was when he was playing that drawing game with people lmao

Found this while scrolling through Tumblr, this is apparently meant to be Cirno in an alternate outfit. It looks so fucking bad. They were even too lazy to draw her fucking wings, that's like, her primary design trait???

The fuck? Someone can look at this and say "Yep, this is the ice fairy"? Fucking braindead, dude. Even I, who can't draw better than stick figures, would've tried to draw the wings. Isn't she also actual blue and not teal?

The colors are completely off the mark, no frills, she looks more like a clown than an ice fairy, and did I mention no wings? This looks more like an early 2000's mahou shoujo character than CIRNO. You know? One of the most well known and recognizable Touhou characters?

If you were to show me this, told me it’s fan art of a Touhou character, and ask me what was the original character, I wouldn’t have a clue! OP cannot be lazy enough to forget the one single trait that makes Cirno… an ice fairy.

I'll be honest; I'd immediately get who the fan art is supposed to be of if the artist just scribbled a big-ass ⑨.

4chan's /jp/, their Touhou central, is having a Touhou vs. VTuber war.
I'm posting here once more due to the migratory patterns of 4chan users. Apparently, moderators on the /jp/ board have changed the board to a 14 day autosage. The common theory is that this is to combat a necroposter that was bumping threads to quickly get a Hololive general off the board any time it was at bump limit. This has instead lead to the (probably) same guy spamming Hololive threads to bump threads off the board. It has become so bad that talks of leaving have begun and /jp/-centric altchans are now advertising on /jp/ specifically.
The thread where the war between men who love fake women is here.

Looks like it's the same as it ever was, especially considering there's a lot more competition now since KanColle was the big game in town. /jp/ remains as one of several ruined boards on a dead and gay website past its prime.

In spite of the loss in relevance, we can always remember that great things are still being made with 2hu!

/jp/sies are still retarded and gay to pick up the blade and fight for what's important (2hu) like always.
The only thing /jp/ cares about it, is which 2hu to jack off to and maybe like one gameplay thread that's full of the same ten or so people. I have no clue why /vt/ threads are still on the board, when the whole reason why /vt/ was created was to stop /jp/ from being overrun. Even without the holo-spam the board is dead quality wise. All that's there is softcore porn and mentally ill people fawning over cartoons and idols.

ruined boards
It hasn't degenerated to the state of /v/ or any of the red boards yet. It's stagnated, and it's been that way for years. The quality of the board doesn't seem that much different than it was 5 years ago. /jp/ is a boring board. It doesn't really contribute to anything other than being retirment home for older touhou fans who were there during the series peak around 2007-2010.
