I will never understand how or why gaming as an industry got to the point where people will pay full price at release for shit that is blatantly fucked, on the grounds that maybe just maybe the devs will fix it at some unspecified point in the future.
To be fair there were A LOT of shit games back in the day and you were just shit outta luck when you bought them. GG you spent that money, it's shit and it'll be shit until the death of the universe.

Now you at least have a chance of fixes and many do provide those.

But people are still willing to paying full price for a broken product and a sub-par experience with a pinky promise that things will get better. With the track record of games have there is no excuse not to wait for a sale when the bug fixes and QoL improvements have been added in.

I played the shit out of Empire. The campaign AI was brutally retarded but I loved a lot of the rest of it. As you mentioned, the naval battles. Also— you could garrison buildings, which we haven’t had since. The field battles in and around the towns were fun. Rush square formation in the research tree and watch your ground pounders shred enemy cav.

I’m old enough to remember when the player base was like “waaah all the naval battles are autoresolve this sucks” and then naval battles came in and the player base was like “waaaah naval battles suck.” They didn’t work in Rome 2 because the primary naval tactic was basically head butting the other ship to death and they made the naval areas way too small.
Empire had quite possibly the shittiest siege battles until Warhammer came along, though. Say what you will about Rome 2, at least it had siege battles in actual cities. I've always preferred FotS's naval combat over Empire and Napoleon because I got sick of fighting on the same sea maps with no coastlines over and over.

ETW sieges were so atrociously jank that it made me want to never build forts in my territories. Sure it meant the AI was more likely to hard rush over to fuck you up but at least you would have an easier time reconquering it.

In a game where firearms combat was the primary means of it all having broken LOS, janky positions, barely functioning 'artillery' on the fort walls and on down was truly unforgiveable. Hell even putting troops in a house where you think it would benefit them greatly was a crapshoot. Warhammer sieges were very bland and samey but they at least were less horrible than ETW. Not a point of praise, just a sad fact.

It didn't help that unless you were fighting a Middle Eastern or Indian faction it was nothing but star forts and more star forts all over Europe. I'd have taken a small chunk of a city that changed based on the region over another fucking star fort, even if they're historically accurate.

Yes, but I'm going to CreamAPI the shit out of TWW3. Its the least CA can do to compensate me for paying full price for it.

So Immortal Empires is now right around the corner. Can't wait to play for 100 turns, see 4% of the map, then get bored lol.

Also some madlad is spending his time making lewd mods for all the female legendary lords

No lie what I've seen of Immortal Empires and the changes to factions looks pretty solid. This should've been there on launch and I'm glad I didn't pre-order 3 since I was getting the early access vibes from it. Might actually pick it up in a couple of months to play through.

Also lots of talk about Valkia from the latest trailer, but I was mostly impressed in how good the Slaanesh dedicated chaos warriors now look Screenshot_20220815-020259_YouTube.jpg

Not just lewd, but Chaos corrupted lewdness. His Ming Xiao work has turned out pretty damn good, actually.

As for Chaos stuff, I am very unhappy we're not getting Dechala the Denied One, and that Valkia the Bloody is far less sexy than she should be.

You'd think a goddamn Chaos Valkyrie taking the slain to an afterlife of eternal battle would have some fucking tits or something, but nooo... Seriously, if even her mini, ugly as it is because GW can't do women's faces has some fucking tits, why can't CA give Valkia a set?

CA made her even uglier than the fucking GW model, too. That's a level of ugly that's not just deliberate, but takes significant effort to pull of.

IE doesn't officially release until the No Siege/No Settlement battles and restore anti-player bias mods are updated/released as well.

This and a ton of equaly essential mods. You also have to take into account the mass of bugs and instabilities coming with it, so probably not before a good month or two at least.

As for Valkia, even if I find her model to be just fine for a demon, mods will fix it at some point. If I remember well, there were cosmetic mods covering each lord in past TW:Ws anyway.

I don't actually mind Valkia's appearance, in fact she should probably be more monstreous, considering what daemon princes look like.
The one I'm disappointed by is N'Kari from the base game, looks ridiculous, especially when standing next to the regular Keeper of Secrets

She's... sort of one? Things tend to flip-flop with her, the novels saying she was resurrected as a Daemon Prince but her actual TT stats have her just as a very powerful mortal thanks to Khorne giving her a ton of stat boosts.
Though Valkia is said to have become a Daemon Prince of Khorne in the novel Valkia the Bloody by Sarah Cawkwell in Chapter 14: Emergence as well as other short stories and role-playing supplements, other information available in sources for the Warhammer Fantasy Battles tabletop game lists her only as a mortal Champion of Khorne.

Throughout Valkia the Bloody, Valkia is consistently referred to as a "Daemon Princess" after her resurrection. This is further reinforced by the short story Bloodraven, also by Sarah Cawkwell, which refers to her as a Daemon Princess. The short story The Siege of Naggarond, written for the End Times by Sarah Cawkwell, also referred to her as a Daemon Princess.

Additionally, the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 3rd Edition Khorne supplement Liber Carnagia explicitly mentions that the Blood God raised her from death and transformed her into a Daemon Prince on page 8, albeit he made her only "part Daemon Prince."

However, Valkia's official ruleset in the Warriors of Chaos 8th Edition armybook on page 50 as well as in the Warriors of Chaos 7th Edition armybook on page 73 describe her only as a mortal Champion of Khorne, explicitly lacking the Daemonic trait.
So, she's basically some weird half-daemon killing machine, which is what you'd expect of well... a Chaos Valkyrie. Things get really blurry when a Champion has received enough gifts from their patron, after all.

You'd never expect Dechala to be still technically mortal when she's looking like that, after all.

Oh I'm well aware of the lore conflict regarding Valkia, but I just used the daemon princes as an example of what happens when mortals are bestowed demonic gifts.
And I do get what is wrong with the Valkia model. The teeth are stubby and short, giving her less the look of a monster and more someone with poor dental, the eyes are tiny as well.
You can do monstreous while maintaining female features
