Total War: Warhammer 3 comes out soon. Who is your favorite faction? What faction are you most interested in playing? What new features would you like to see introduced?

My favorite faction is the Empire, my favorite new faction is the Tzeentch demons, a new feature I'd like to see added is a campaign where you play as the Dogs of War wandering around the world, selling your swords to the highest bidder and backstabbing them as soon as someone else pays you more.

Favorite faction in TW3? I can't say as I haven't played it.

Lorewise I'd go for Slaanesh, and both Kislev and Cathay sound interesting (slav Ottomans and humie Dwarves, respectively...?), but I've been surprised before. For example, going into the older series, I assumed my favorite would be Bretonnia. And I discovered that the High Elves have a unit composition I typically go for. However, I wound up liking Norsca, Vampire Counts (both of which are NOT geared towards strategies I favour), and Vampire Coast the best.

TBH all the daemon faction looks fun as hell. But my true love will be for my tall hat chaos dwarf. it better be the first dlc.

Were these Total War/Warhammer blends any good? They were never high on my radar so I didn't really look into them. Though I did love Dawn of War, even though those games are different.

I'd like it if sieges were more fun and had more variety to them.

Who is your favorite faction?

I like the Dark Elves, the Bretonnians, The Empire, and the Lizard people.

I was a longtime Total War player (since Shogun 1) and was NOT particularly knowledgeable about Warhammer Fantasy, so all the magic and dragons and crap had me very skeptical.

After having played both Total Warhammers, though, I'd say they're brilliant. Possibly even my favorite TW...?

The sieges are kind of crap, and the DLC policy is horrendous. However, the campaign is a lot of fun, and ALL of the factions are varied and interesting. The magic and flying units are integrated extremely well (much better than the gunpowder units were in the Empire/Napoleon days) and the best part is that all Total Warhammer games "play together" - so if you get WH1, you can use all the WH1 content in WH2 (including all the factions of both games, and a massive combo campaign that makes Rome look like a Total War Saga).

It's a lot harder to learn than, say, Shogun II, on account of the huge variance in factions, and if you have never played a TW title before, you might be better off starting with one of the other popular entries instead, just to make it easier on yourself. But if you've played TW before, and/or if you have any interest in Warhammer Fantasy at all, then yeah, I'd say there's no reason not to try it. Fuckin great.

Sieges are consistently the most poorly implement aspect of Total War games, and the Warhammer games are definitely no exception. On the plus side most of the siege battle settings are absolutely gorgeous, so at least they're fun to look at.

The sieges in TW: WH have been bad even by the standards of the series, though. Attila and Three Kingdoms both had better implementation (no infinite-range towers, ability to surround most settlements, deployables on defense) though the big fortresses in Medieval 2 are still the best- nested rings of fortifications like a matryoshka doll of murder.

But yes, the art design is on point. I'm hoping the seige revamp works well.

Yeah, I was gonna say - M2 had great siege battles.

After that the franchise completely lost the script. It's been up and down, but never managed to equal M2, and while I'd say the "sieges" in Empire are worse than in WH, the WH sieges are very very bad; easily the weakest part of the game.

So I been considering this game, and I got a question, I know the different factions are in different sections of the world. Once all the 1 and 2 game factions get released as playable will I be able to do a massive world wide campaign with everyone?

You have to own the first two games to get access to the other factions of the world on the worldwide map, get them on sale, these games go on sale a lot and for cheap. It will be a few months after game 3's releases that the worldwide campaign will be released. So even wait until game 3 goes on sale if it's the only selling point you're interested in.

In two they mashed the two maps together with some differences but it took them a few months to release the Mortal Empires campaign. I haven't followed particularly closely with what's being said about the game but it would make sense if they do something similar. Multiplayer will probably have all races with availablity depending on which games you own

Good info, thank you. Your experience sounds somewhat similar to my own so it has some real value. My biggest concern was that the games would stray too far from what I used to play in Rome and Shogun II (love me some Shogun II). But hearing how they are very well-made is good stuff. I'll get one of these.

Okay so Wait and get it on sale...and then I can wage the end times as that Demon who pissed off Khorne and got himself Thot Patrolled across the chaos wastes.
