HAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHA

wtf is this. CA can't be serious, right ? Consoles ? How is this supposed to run with a stable frame rate, I do not know. No release date ? What are they working on ? If this isn't ready to launch soon, are they preparing to support WH3 longer and if yes, why haven't they said so ? Pre-Alpha-build screenshots ? The UI looks awful, they better have an actual UI for PC players and not one size fits all solution. The campaign map is frightening me right now. Are they complete moving away from movement with armies and have turned this into Empire at War ? Unsurprisingly, big boom boom cinematic battles with bright and big icons.

And of course Chaos will be a DLC again. You can not make this shit up.

You cynical bastards will not admit it, but I was soyfacing like a reddit-bitch during that announcement.
You're the kind of guy that doesn't cross the street when a bunch of niggers are coming your way, aren't you?

Precisely what in the past 10 years has made you believe CA can actually deliver a non-dogshit product?

Yeah I thought it looked super odd and not in line with the total war vibe at all. I'm curious about it to say the least, but I can't be excited about it. Also no mention of chaos is very unfortunate. The description just says "space marines" as well, I wonder how much real variation between chapters there will be.

Gave me the impression of Tower Defence; the Orks were portrayed like just so much chaff without any of the hallmark positioning and maneuvering you'd expect from a Total War game.

It's going to be an absolute mess, isn't it?

Three Kingdoms and Warhammer.
They dropped Three Kingdoms at the first opportunity, Warhammer 3 has been a crumbling disaster since launch.

And Warhammer 3 was the same game they've been making for the past 25 years, and they still found ways to fuck it up.

No, I don't trust CA's competence at all.

We already got Dawn of War, what will this offer that it or a Warhammer 40K mod for any Total War game won't?
I'm not going to be singing it's praises until I see some gameplay.

After I pay pigged so much for WH2 and WH3 and their DLC, one would think that the sunken cost would keep me tethered indefinitely, forever having to deal with CA's bullshit.
But, I just don't care anymore.
I made my peace with the whole situation. I'm pretty sure that company is jeeted and the anglos themselves are mentally retarded, so expecting anything good, is like hoping for heavenly mana to drop from a dog's ass.
Even Neferata and her feet won't be enough to get me to play these games again.

It's gonna be bad isn't it
Painfully so since strategy games are notoriously difficult to map to controllers. Also looks like they're shrinking the scale since they can't be fucked to try making something good for a venue that is actively dying out anyway.

Plus all the compromises you need to make in terms of gameplay, complexity and interface to keep the gameplay manageable on a controller.

The gameplay is guaranteed to be basic bitch slop, just blobs of units standing there and shooting at each other, or engaging in anemic melee.

This game will fail utterly to bring to life the grand scale and brutality of 40k's battlefields.

It's Total War, it's going to play exactly like every other Total War.
I'm sure it will be fun after about 20 DLC packs because the game will release in a completely broken state without a sandbox mode for some reason. Don't worry, all your money will go to the Hyenas spiritual successor.

That snippet of gameplay looked like it was some sort of autobattler. The two sides were just blasting away at each other in a corridor sized map. No room for flanking or maneuver. It was just a snippet though

It's just a cavalcade of compounding issues at play here. The A team that was responsible for launch WH3 so you know all factions will be unfinished in terms of rosters and mechanics. I strongly expect the single entity heroes and lords to return from WH, so expect basic copy and paste skill trees. CA expanding towards consoles also means an entire new player base completely unfamiliar with your franchise and strategy games. Do you make two different UI's ? Do you slow down the pace of battles ? Do you return to a much more obvious rock-paper-scissors system from Shogun 2 but without all the stats ? But since you expect a return of investment, you cannot make it too complex in terms of mechanics and systems. So the already basic TW formula will get even dumber and easier. The new engine is both a blessing and a curse. You don't have to deal with the spaghetti code, but you have to optimize for consoles. So you will have to scale down massively.

Customization? Didn't you watch the trailer, we're getting nig marines! You wanted your Space Wolves squad to look like vikings? Get Brotha-Sergeant Tyrone a wolf pelt cape with the Space Wolves Cosmetic Pack (for a mere $14.99 + tip)!

They got shat on in 2016 for that stunt.

Also, you can swap paint on most chapters (ultrasmurfs and everyone else that follows the codex closely) but some use entirely different tactics and units.

I dont think you can play as Space Wolves at launch (dlc lol)

As for chaos marines, it'll probably start with the chaos undivided marines (you can swap paint) but the more quirky ones (monogod and arguably Night Lords) will likely be seperate dlc later.

I can see them releasing the more quirky guard regiments as DLC (Krieg, the ruskie looking ones, etc)

They can do sisters of battle dlc.

And an "agents of the imperium" dlc.

a "rouge trader dlc" i can see them doing too.

This is the one change I wouldn’t actually mind as Medieval 1 had a pretty clean campaign map experience and functioned similarly enough. Maybe they’ve finally given up on the jankiness of free army movement and the balancing mess of skills and character abilities that fuck with movement range, given the only real loss would be ambushes.
