Cigars are the best thing ever. Smoking one is usually the best part of my day. Contrary to my profile picture I've never smoked cigarettes and find them kind of gross. To me they're kind of to cigars what a White Castle burger is to a prime cut steak. But to each his own.

I smoke a lot of Oliva, Crowned Heads, and Diesel; those I think are far and away the best bang-for-buck brands on the market. When I can afford it I'll splurge a little on something by My Father. La Aroma de Cuba is an awesome line from their factory.

If it hasn't been mentioned already, check out Cigar Page. Truly insane deals if you wait for their 5- and 10-pack sales. You don't have to be an oil baron to chomp cigars all day.
 
Good recommendation, I found a couple 5-packs even I don't mind shelling out for. I usually prefer a pipe or snuff simply because cigars are simply too expensive; for the price of a single middle shelf cigar, I can get a tin of snuff or snus that will last me at least a few days. But even a pipe just won't do it sometimes when you are celebrating something big. I have found I have the best luck sharing my love of the leaf with others when it is in the form of cigars. Something about them is just classy in a way that no other tobacco product can match, and even non-smokers are much more likely to accept a cigar than a snuffbox and a hanky or a lipper of flavored mud lol.

Commercial cigarettes are definitely nicotine addiction packaged and commodified to the highest degree. It is rare that I will smoke a commercial "straight," but I do occasionally enjoy the ritual of rolling and smoking a cigarette, a ritual I can fit into a standard cigarette break, which I cannot do with a pipe or cigar. However, I only smoke high quality tobaccos. Honestly most mid-grade and above rolling tobacco would not be out of place in a pipe; Daughters & Ryan are not bullshitting when they call their stuff pipe tobacco!
 
I've recently been enjoying pairing whiskey and cigars. Its sounds mundane and cliche, but the two pair so nicely, you end up not drinking to much or smoking to much especially if your doing it with friends. They cancel each other's negatives out and force you to drink slowly and smoke slowly so enjoy both without overdoing it.

There is no wrong way to do it ethier, it's all to taste, try some whiskey or any cigar really and see what works for you. I've found Monks Road whiskey is my favorite right now and I pair it with a darker cigar. I haven't narrowed down a favorite cigar yet, I could use a recommendation of what you guys like to pair up with spirits.
