If a lunatic is slowly advancing on you with a knife, the best course of action is to shoot them in the leg then roundhouse kick them until their head explodes.

It doesn't really help that we live in a time where disrespect and violence against cops is encouraged. Scout chose to be an idiot, and therefore got killed for being an idiot. I'm pretty sure his parents played a major role with indoctrinating him with a lot of that far left bullshit. In the end it doesn't matter what side of the spectrum you are on, if a cop is pointing a gun at you and tells you to drop your weapon, you do so. Especially in this age of anti cop snowflakes.

While I'm glad the gene pool just got a slight improvement, the way the fucker went is disgraceful.
If he had a knife and wanted to end it, why not just make a wide, second smile on your neck? Oh right, because being batshit insane is sought after in those circles. Why go with a whimper, when you can prove your point and go with a bang? But the point not being "I want to stand against Nazis and get put down like a rabid dog in the martyrdom glory", and more like "crazy people belong in an asylum, here's why".
Seriously, fuck this guy and everything he stood for.

THAT'S a knoif, mate.

Too late?

I like how there's still people that are like "why didn't the officer just QTE roundhouse kick the knife then taser him into submission she didn't have to shoot"

Stay :autism:, friends

As a person with some legal experience, I feel an obligation to offer Kiwi Farmers a short guide in how not to get shot by a cop.

1) Do not charge at a cop with a weapon.

I'm pretty sure if you don't do this, you will not be shot by a cop.

I think it should be legally required that all knives have a printed warning: "DO NOT POINT AT POLICE OFFICERS!"

Tasers are for compliance, not self defense. Some raving troon doesn't get on the ground when you tell them to get on the ground, or they won't get out of the car when told to get out of the car... you light em' up with 20,000 volts of persuasion. That's what a taser is for. Tasers are nowhere near reliable enough to be used for self defense.

Any cop that uses a taser as a tool of self defense is a dummy, and they're just asking to be beat, stabbed, shot, etc...

I had a close family friend who died a very similar way, his mom called the cops on him because he was trying to kill himself with a knife and when they showed up he refused to drop the weapon because he knew he would get shot and that's what he wanted. His mom actually got a million dollar settlement out of it, but tbh she was far from a good influence in his life so I don't feel like she deserved it.

In that way, I sympathize with the Tiny Knife Wielding Tranny. Part of this story that a lot of people aren't looking at is that it was very clearly a suicide, she was even asking to be shot. I feel like non-lethal force should be used in cases like this since the suspects are clearly out to give more damage to themselves than others. That said, I don't blame the cops either. If you have someone with a weapon who's not complying with orders then you have to deal with them, it's just terrible that things played out the way they did. In truth though, this all plays into the fact that mental health can be a tricky thing to deal with in America and ultimately there's a lot that we could be doing better.

Can we go back to blaming D&D for the downfall of our youth like we did in the 80's? Clearly there's a connection.

Also, for all those screeching that they were mentally ill, They were the president of the school's activism for LGBTQLMNOP community.

So... you were all fine with having someone that mentally ill running your organization?

You're approaching this as if any risk at all is unacceptable. I disagree, I think the element of risk is an essential part of the job description.

I expect cops to put themselves in danger, at least a little bit, to try to make the system as fair as possible.

This is so stupid. The job of police officers is to reduce risk to civilians, not to be canaries.

I don't understand why they needed to add into the title, "tiny" and "barefooted" by the way. It just seems like they were trying to pain that person as less of a threat than needed. Where the fuck were these journalists when a young man was shot by two officers who had a screwdriver in his hands. Guy made no move towards them, but most news organizations did fuck all with that one; even with direct body cam footage.

Fuck the media.

If a cop is trained to aim for the leg, he hits the leg. Around here it's really rare for police to aim for the center mass, something like 80% of the shots are aimed at thighs. Even the terrorist in Turku was dropped with a leg shot.
no. you aim for the pelvis or center mass in Finland, same as Norway and a few other places. the leg and thigh are difficult to hit on a moving target, if the target has a narrow profile towards you, and it is very easy to bleed out extremely quickly due to the presence of many major blood vessels through the legs and shoulders. a leg is also unreliable as a man stopper. if the subject is armed with a pistol, they can still pose a significant threat from the ground. if you do not hit and shatter bone, the person may not stop and instead now will begin firing back. leg hits are also unreliable in that shooting to wound or incapacitate on purpose is borderline cruel and unusual punishment.

if an officer is justified to draw his duty weapon to stop a threat, that officer must surely be forced to do so and escalate to a deadly response. if such a threat is not immediate or imminent, a less than lethal option is preferable, or simply using a baton or OC spray. it is not "as easy as being trained to shoot in the leg". most police only qualify a few times a year and most never want to actually use their firearms against people. to expect them to suddenly be able to hit a small moving target like a thigh that won't result in massive blood loss is absurd.

there are many fundamental differences to policework in different countries. police in the US are much more localized than in most of Europe where provincial or state police are more common. likewise since Europe (for the most part) disarms it's public and deals rarely with firearm toting criminals there is less of a pressure to be as cautious. lastly, community policing is still practiced in much of Europe, whereas in the US it has fallen by the wayside in exchange for militarization founded during the War on Drugs and the rise of significant gang violence.

Good that they can defend themselves, but I got one question: why did they not use rubber bullets?
rubber bullets are deadly at close range unless at very low velocities. shotguns use beanbag shells or plastic shot at low velocity and you can still get broken bones and death in some people. they are not a magic "hurts but doesn't kill" ammunition. even blank cartridges are deadly within a few feet of the muzzle, and they fire nothing but high pressure gas.
