For over a decade, this ongoing fan project which has had many hurdles over the years is finally getting released. I have been keeping an eye on this project now and then over the years and as a TS fan, it's finally good for something TS related to actually come out.

Features included right now:
  • 28 Maps
  • Online and Offline Story Mode
  • 50 Arcade Leagues
  • 32 Challenges
  • 91 Characters
  • 41 Weapons
  • 20 Arcade Game Modes
  • New Game Mode - Team Elimination
  • Updated Game Mode - Last Stand
  • Online and Offline Arcade w/Bots
  • 10 Players Online
  • More to come

Only played Future Perfect but the freedom and customisation in the multiplayer modes was huge especially for an offline console game. Always wished I could play it online.

It's probably too ambitious to expect the map editor returning?

Edit: What an absolute shitshow that "About" section is. Like 4 different instances of "Minor disagreement happened so the whole team left"

It's far too soon to even think about map editor atm. I imagine if the project goes far, it would be at the lower things to introduce. The amount of content done so far from a dev-admin on the team.
I'd say the game is probably 95% of TS1 in (missing one dual wield variant and some characters, challenges)
Probably about 45-ish% of TS2 is in (missing story, a decent chunk of characters and a few leagues/challenges)
Then probably about 15% of TSFP is in (missing just about most things from most categories)

It's a good showcase of the double edged sword that is using volunteer labor for large projects.

With fan projects like these, it's a miracle that they even get as far to a release. Mind that this project had to swap to the Cryengine when Crytek bought the IP as it was the only way Crytek would allow the project to continue without getting DMCA'd by them. And then when THQ Nordic bought the IP, they ditched the engine and went to Unreal citing lack of support and just general headaches with the Cryengine along with very few people knowing how to work with the Engine.

This does go to show that Timesplitters has a dedicated fanbase willing to still keep the dream alive. Even with Timesplitters fans getting kicked in the balls time and time again. The appetite for a new Timesplitters never went away.

Also I believe they got the Voice Actor for FP Sgt.Cortez to do the annoucements and Sgt Cortez just like in TSFP. Tom Clarke Hill has given his support for the project and a new TS before so it's nice to see him refill a role that many fans loved.

Time to boot up my Wii to play TimeSplitters 2 and 3, I guess.
Before Nintendon't was available, I had to install Dios Mios on my Wii, replacing the entire Gamecube firmware. I should probably try to restore it like it was before...

That reminds me, i have to still play TimeSplitters 2
I bought the meh Anarchy game with the express purpose of playing the hidden TS2 HD build inside.
I only slightly regret it, port is janky as heck and the game attached to it is very mid.

I played TS 2 more than Halo and was disappointed that more games tried to copy Halo than be different during that period. Going to have to try it out.

It's out. It's time to Spli-

Oh.

This is REAL fucking good. Shame the open Siberia map doesn't seem to be available because that was my favourite map to do snipers only vampire.

This is what I was wondering about when I was reading about this remake this morning.
I've never played or seen anything TimeSplitters related (literally all I know about it is the Second Sight devs made it), and it looks like this remake is going to be missing stuff, maybe missing a lot.
If I want to be able to understand the story and such, am I better off just emulating?

I have been waiting for this since college. I don't know if they'll include dedicated servers but if they do I'll be hosting one for the community once I have time to set it up.
