Coming from someone who thinks JFK was the greatest president in American history, There’s no point in stopping it. The CIA would’ve simply rigged the 1964 election against him, and he probably wouldn’t be nearly as fondly remembered today. More like Eisenhower or Reagan in terms of popularity, where everyone knows them but no one puts them among the greats.

that wouldn't have happened, we have both soviet and us mission plans from that time, even if they went full nukes, the soviets only had 8 nuclear missiles within range of the US during the cuban missile crisis and if we're being honest a nuke hitting detroit or baltimore in 62 would have been better than them getting destroyed in 67. especially when you consider how small of an impact a one megaton missile would have and thats on the off chance the russians were absurdly accurate with their shots.

of course europe would be fucked, but by 62 they were barely rebuilt. the soviet union had less than 500 nukes by the time of the "crisis" and the us had 3k. almost all of them on both sides being a megaton or less and the US plan had way less targets so they could blanket them in nukes whereas the soviet union would have to try and hit as much of europe as it can with such a small amount.

as for nuclear winter, that turned out to be a jew lie. and the effects would be no worse than the 1815 "year without a winter" which didn't really cause the human race to go extinct. beyond that the soviet union's capacity for war after 1000 nukes hit them would be nil. all infrastructure gone, so worst case scenario the US by 1967 would probably have been in a much better place than it was in our timeline just because the democrats would be too focused on repairing europe to worry about instigating race riots in the US. any war that would break out because of the cuban missile crisis ends by 1963. the Strategic air command was at its best when the crisis happened and if anything Kennedy allowed a lot worse shit to happen by not going for it then.
