Oh damn! I just had a really really evil thought regarding this fool. He may have caused a ton of trouble for himself with regard to EVS. We keep thinking of him as some random asshole on the internet exercising his free speech rights by publicly displaying himself to be an asshole. But there may be a bit more to it as far as Van Scriver is concerned. I know the thought of getting some sort of restrain8ng order or taking legal action over mean tweets seems absurd. But there may actually be something delightfully solid to work with here, should Ethan choose to act.
We keep looking at Doyle’s signature “Print Shop Guy” tagline, without giving it much examination. But that isn’t exactly what he is. He is a Publisher of Comic and Comic Style Art. One who clearly employs a fairly large number of comic book artists. Yes he is not publishing monthly periodicals or stories. He doesn’t employ writers. But he does employ the industry artists. So he is a business and an employer within the industry. As a business owner and employer he has been waging a non stop campaign to interfere with Van Scrivers employment by DC, and to overall black list him from the industry. Further this campaign is not based in any way on any personal business history or work related disagreement with Van Scriver. He has been bombarding contacts at DC with negative information. He has been threatening work to other artists based on contact with EVS. And finally he is chortling and claiming victory when EVS is separated from DC. This is remarkably similar to the crap that Mark Waid pulled on D&C. A decent civil case could be made concerning his attempts to deny a EVS business and employment.
