It's extremely subtle and unfortunately I can't put my finger on what or how or why, but I can tell when someone is genuinely angry and they're trying to mask it as smugness or empowerment. I can't nail down whether it's the body language, the word choice, or the demeanor, but the lady who was dancing to that "liberal" parody song and all those blonde chick's videos combined I could tell they were genuinely angry.

If she keeps this up until he reaches high school then yeah he'll probably hate her guts. Middle schoolers are old enough to not need to be handheld when choosing a book to read. One of my fav books from middle school is White Fang and it has kinda racist depiction of minorities in it(native americans) and that didn't influence my behavior at all. But this woman probably wouldn't let her child read it because of that. She'll probably treat her child like a kid for his entire life.
