by the way, "Native Americans" also call themselves Indians, it's all over buildings on their own land, "Native American" is a clown world woke term for them ironically made up by people who aren't Indians themselves, which is hilariously a repeat of history when foreigners dubbed them Indians, and the Indians spent years settling on the term and now just own it. If you're calling them "Native Americans", you may as well call them "Red Niggers".

depends where you go or who you talk to, some of them consider "Indian" the equivalent of "Negro," while others interpret it as part of their identity.

like Alaskan natives self identify as "Eskimo," while Nunavut/Canadian Eskimos consider "Eskimo" a slur and prefer "Inuit."

you can't really go wrong with just calling them "Natives" in my opinion

Native dude using a primitive bow in the late 19th century is silly, but the stuff they complain about is dumb.

Europeans sold natives booze and this tore apart communities. Some natives "sold out" and fully assimilated. Some natives cared more about killing other natives. Most participated in pushing the buffalo to extinction. It ain't too black and white.

Those I've been around resented "Native American" and called themselves Indian, since it's such another politically correct from-the-top labeling. It's certainly a big mess, and life-destroying political correctness tears the tongue out from your mouth when you can't even refer to a collective without having to walk on eggshells.

So I'm just going to forever refer to them as American Indians, because that's the longest-standing term for them. Any pink-haired 400lbs trannies that wanna beat me up over that can come find me and we can duke it out.

I can believe that. A Canadian show called "Under Arrest" (which is basically COPS but with leafs) most of the time shows the cops arresting indians for doing the same shit niggers here in the states do.

What is funny is that the terms have constantly changed and the natives themselves still assert to be either "native" in Canada or "Indian" in the United States.

We have Indigenous, Indigenous American, Indigenous Peoples, First-Americans, First-peoples, Aboriginal, Amerindian, First-POC, Peoplez (with a Z)... and likely many more.

White women and a few token natives who wave communist flags ain't gonna change this anytime soon.

Yeah. Also europeans sold them loads of stuff, guns, metal tools, horses, textiles, all of which radically altered the structure of their societies. Its pretty dumb to claim booze selling as some sort of unique evil.

There is an argument to be made that natives have a predisposition to booze but I don't really see that as the problem. Nobody has a system that can handle gin.

The Europeans were not selling alcohol to weaken tribes. It was just a nice byproduct.

For example, the Cherokee were one of the first native tribes on the east coast the British encountered, they had friendly relations and even scouted and skirmished for the British in war of Independence. With the loss of their British Allies, they had to contest against the revolutionaries that became their new trading partners and as a result, got disfavored when reservations were drawn up.

Playing AoE3 kind of ignited a love for the old days of America and how it shaped the nation. Love reading about how natives adapted to the changing environment.

I too get all my historical knowledge from video games my brain is at a level of 60% rn so games such as this is my land getting history wrong really fucks me up because I can't read
