Fellow Kiwis with experience living in or visiting Minnesota (Minneapolis in particular), what would be your top recommendations for local food and drink to try out? I'm working from 7 to 5 for the handful of days that I'll be there so I'll likely only have the time and energy for dinner and maybe some evening sightseeing. I'm mostly planning to find cool spaces in and around my hotel to read and listen to MATI when my coworkers decide to do their own thing.

Also, for those of you that have traveled for work, what are some tips you have for packing and stuff for a week or longer trip? I haven't flown in well over 10 years so I don't want to look completely retarded checking my bag, boarding, and being unprepared for my nights after work. I'm expecting warm weather.

Minneapolis in April can have a lot of variation in temperature, especially at night. Bring some layers.

Mickey's Diner is St Paul is kind of a classic tourist food spot. First Ave and their associated venues will have various music and events. Up-Down has retro video games if you enjoy that sort of thing. Prohibition Bar is neat.

I'm not really a nightlife person outside of concerts though, so my tourist advice is usually museums.

Avoid Minnesota. The people are scumbags. In fact, they're such insufferable pricks that they forced the Somali refugees that moved there to do all their federal fraud for them before throwing them under the bus once it got exposed. Nothing good comes from interacting with Minnesotans.
