Well there was an early 1950s horror movie called "Them!". To think about, this actually could be remade. Giant ants troons coming out from the desert Tran Ranch to invade a Southwestern desert town the girls toilet of local elementary school...
While we're at it, why not an vigilante movie where girls of elementary or junior high school decide to take care of "them" in the style of Paul Kersey and various vigilantes?
oh i know it's just that during the filming (allegedly) Kevin broke down crying and when asked what's wrong he replied "look at me! Doing a monster movie about giant worms!" He thought Tremors was gonna ruin him entirely. Well it sure didn't but damn if this movie doesn't shred what little dignity he had left.
No. It's not like that at all. Kevin Bacon is pretty good in it. He does lunatics well. The cast isn't completely unlikable. But Jordan (They/Them lead enby tranny) sounds like a cartoon character. If you check out the Milo Stewart thread you'll see what I mean. T voice is very unsettling. Also there's a musical number randomly thrown in there that lifts the spirits of all the campers.
There's another tranny in the film who hides the fact that he's a troon until he gets caught by staff while showering alone.
Gabriel (big weird eyebrows) is not a tranny. But you'll think he is at first because he looks like a low effort MtF. I thought he had a speech impediment but it turns out he's Brazilian and it's just his accent. But he moves oddly and has very strange features. I'm convinced he's got some genetic issue. He's supposed to be irresistible. But he's horrifying looking.
The whole thing is really a generic, "nothing much happens until the end" slasher with a conversion camp tacked onto it. It's watchable once. But skip the gay sex scene between Gabriel and the jock. I wish I did.
The killer is the nurse, played by Anna Chlumsky of My Girl fame. She's a former camper out for revenge against the camp for destroying her life. Yawn.
