I take it Tom Preston and Chris are not included in this then?

That aside, this is probably one of the big things to do in order to make an animation (or even just a comic). And count me in as another one with strong opinions about animation (albeit, not as strong). Mr. Enter could use a bit of time to brush up on his animation and filmmaking knowledge. But knowing him, that's probably not going to happen unless someone forces him too. And I doubt that'll happen anytime soon.

Well I meant people who made actual TV shows generally speaking but then again Oz 2o mouse was one Cartoon network.
Mr. Enter should proper take a writing class and improve his writing skill seeing that what he claims his job is, and that all he dose for growing around is writing scripts so it seem like that what he rather be writer then a cartoonist buuut with his recent thing about colleges I don't see him taking any steps to actually improve abilities.

As someone who loves his Western animation, I am very disheartened with this man. I don't find him as able to be taken seriously or likable, knowing his hypocrisy in how he works. The guy needs to be sat down and talked to, badly, at this point - if only to stop him from making a mistake and thinking that what he is doing right now with writing all of these (terrible) scripts and pandering to stuff above his BS is okay right now... This is why I think he needs to go his ass to school. If only to learn to better appreciate animation of all kinds, not just specifically Western fare...

So, one of the people working on it said they're working on the series bible but feel they don't need to finish it until the pilot is finished (I'm assuming completely finished and not just a few animatics and scripts). With myself being a noob at cartoon development, does that make sense?

I'm no expert either but I don't really think that's how it usually works.
It kinda makes sense to have a bible at the ready for a show that aspires to be more than a failed pilot. Unless Enter somehow doesn't think he needs it.

I think the series bible to Enter is stupid, and whatever he cranks out will just be fine. Doesn't he realize that a series bible is vital to television work? Whatever.

From what one of people working on it said to me, they supposedly are working on it but are mainly focusing on animating the pilot. Afterwards, they'll work on the series bible and the pitch.

I think a sit down to talk about how to act his own fucking age and stop sperging about cartoons for children would be more in line.

I actually kinda like the guy, he can get a bit loud and annoying, but I don't think he's a bad guy at all.

But I swear, every time he brings up Silent Hill I feel like stabbing someone...

No it dose not make sense he should really have the series bible finished along with the pilot script. For the record I don't think that pilot is going to be fully finished any time this year.

The hell are they going to base the plot on if the series bible isn't even presentable, much less a pitch?!

Quoting from my knowledge, one of the biggest cartoon success stories in the past decade - yes, I mean ponies - the 2-part pilot was not the first two episodes written. The first episode fully scripted was the third one to air. And the first two episodes of the second season were the fallback series finalie if only one season was to be made (that decision was made well before those episodes were even beginning production so they were quickly moved to that season's production order in order to reduce the workload on the 1st).

I don't think Enter has any idea of what he is going to have asked of him.

Even if he had the full package of crap needed to make a proposal to anybody, it's likley even in the highly improbable chance he's greenlighted by some channel, there would be disaster when executive meddling came to bear.

Hell, just look at Hasbro's latest Transformers series, which the premiere dates for the NA showings just got released for mid-March. Episode 1 on CN will be at a 6:30 PM time slot. Episode 2 is also on CN the next day...at 6:30 AM. You do NOT put a children's show selling toys on at 6:30 AM unless you want the show to tank, it's known as a graveyard timeslot for a very good reason. It's even the SAME reason Hasbro tried to split off and form the HUB which they subsequently drove into the ground by doing the same damn thing anyway.

And I mention this...because CN is the ONLY channel I can see even entertaining the idea of Enter's show on their syndication after shit like Flapjack.

Well you see Lauren Faust knew what she was doing from experience having worked on a number of animated movies and tv shows before hand and plus her husband had made two shows as well, so she knew what to do with pitching unlike mr enter who comes off as knowing next to nothing about this sort of thing. No channel will take a cartoon pitch from no body who never work in animation before like mr.enter

Also off tropic, really they doing that with transformers that a pity I quite like prime and the new one sounded interest but that just sucks their burning it off.

I do hope Growing Around turns into something other than just a glorified idea, just not in the direction its going right now.

A similar thought happened to me earlier, as I wonder what he would think about JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I just got finished watching the Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency parts of the anime (aka "WHEN DO WE GET TO THE STANDS ALREADY??"), with plans to start on Stardust Crusaders in a few days, and I thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through. That stuff is filled to the brim with manly violence, plenty of gore, people actually DYING (including Dio Brando having a woman turn into a monster and having her eat her own baby child's face off), DOGS dying (apparently, Araki hates dogs), and people acting like jerks. I would imagine him constantly complaining about JoJo, saying that villains like Dio and Kars are dicks (when they're supposed to be), Joseph shouldn't act mean to Caesar, no people should ever die in JoJo ever, everyone should live happily ever after alive and well, no one should bleed even a single drop of blood, etc.

That is, if Enter cared about anime at all (especially undubbed, apparently only Stardust Crusaders is getting dubbed for now because it's the most popular arc), and he probably doesn't anyway, but just my two cents.
I know that Enter does like some anime, namely Gregory Horror Show and Zatch Bell. He might like more, but I don't think he would take it as seriously, if you catch my drift.

Man, where is this "Growing Around has potential" attitude coming from? It doesn't. It really doesn't.

The entire concept is trite and dated, pretty much stolen from an already failed pilot. This is the kind of show that might have had some footing in the late 90's or early 2000's, but now? Every single plot point has been done to death in pretty much every other cartoon ever. And much better in those shows, too. It doesn't have a single original bone in its body and is totally adverse to taking any sort of risk. MrEnter's idea of a "risk" is "oh look the stock picture day plot DIDN'T end with a terrible picture! LOL!". When he could just, you know, use an original idea for once instead of shamelessly riding on old, stale plot tropes.

Now, good characters can save a bad story in my opinion, but these characters are terrible. They're whiny, annoying, useless, and do everything they can to screw each other over. When he tries to write some kind of pathos into the show with these unlikable little bastards it comes across as horribly forced. Bastards can be funny, mind, but when the creator of this series is best known for ranting and raving about unlikable characters, it comes off as horribly hypocritical. Not that these bastards are well-executed in the least, though.

The only thing that can save this show is for it to be rewritten from the ground up. Maybe, MAYBE the basic concept can be saved if the characters were entirely rehauled. But even that's optimistic. The cartoon scene isn't what it used to be, especially on CN where he wants to pitch this.
