Welcome to the madness. Most of us here pick a word that has the most commonly-used letters (more vowels also help to narrow down possible candidates) in our first attempt. Your strategy is what I use when I play Sedecordle, which is somewhat different.

got unlucky with some of the words early on.

also i pick a random word every day. i try to never do the same word even if i know it's not gonna be it. i find it fun.
 
Day 2 of trying Wordle. I'll share here since my spouse is ESL and these games don't work well for non-native speakers.

I guessed this 5-letter word in 5/6 tries.

Was thinking of M letter words without A or E and remembered a book title with the final word in it. I didn't get it yesterday so that was nice.

In Spelling Bee I only got 74/253. I'm pretty bad at letter scramble games.

I got lucky that my first two guesses ruled out most of the obvious options (that yellow is an O), tried the correct answer on a whim not expecting it to even go through but it worked lmao
