The purple Connection was really tenuous to me, Hairy and Harry don't at all rhyme when I say them out loud- even if I don't overenunciate Harry as Hah-rry, there is a distinct, quick diphthong in ''hairy'' (heh->ah/rry) that I can't hear in even the more American pronunciation of Harry. I'm also ESL, though, thus it's always a very real possibility that I'm simply being retarded.

@Triple Flutz β€” that’s very interesting. I think I pronounce them as exact homophones with my Pacific Northwest regional American accent.
I wouldn't even know how to describe my accent tbh which is why I mentioned there was a very distinct possibility that I'm just retarded due to ESL, people can tell I'm not from the USA when I speak but they can't quite place the discrepancy and generally say it's slight yet shines through in some words. My relatives back home say I sound slightly Southern now, but people here can tell I'm definitely not American just from the way I speak. I do feel like people here pronounce Harry/hairy noticeably differently, however, which is why I thought it was kind of a tenuous connection since regional accents do differ so much.
