Witcher 3 on Death March is so much fun, although at the start its super annoying, because it makes you actually use your arsenal of tools to take on monsters and it is more rewarding to have defeated a wanted monster after crafting and preparing. Personally i would recommend it to anyone after playing through the game once.

This was at release, so I doubt they changed much.
They actually did. The big 4.0 update wholesale integrated Flash's FCR into the game, completely replacing the old skills and combat.
Of course you have to ignore everything that would say it's impossible for her to do it (too old, female, there are no more witchers who know how to do the trials unless they pull one out of their ass) plus whatever other methods she could go, like becoming a full sorceress or at the very least having Yennefer or one of the others teach her how to make "birth control potions".
She actually gave up/renounced her blossoming sorceress powers (separate from her bloodline powers, obviously) in the books after she reached a little too deeply into the Plane of Fire for an emergency spell after getting trapped in the Zerrikanian desert with no food or water following the mis-jump to escape the Ban Ard clusterfuck.

As to her being old and female, the Witchers were already doping her up with some of the hormone-laden foods from the Choice as a kid, same as they would a boy, and it caused plenty of developmental issues Triss practically tore them a new one over after they brought her in to help out and she found out. And Yen has a personal interest in mutations, given her desire to cure her magic-induced sterility, and is the one to let Geralt know about Moreau's work in Toussaint if you haven't romanced anyone when you start Blood and Wine. Coming up with a modified version of the process that's less intensive and safer, even on adults, is well within her capabilities, and considering at the end of Witcher 3 Geralt blows a small fortune on a pair of Witcher swords for her in the Path ending he'd understand why she'd want to go through with something like that.

She'd never be a true witcher, but nobody would be asking her to be one. Even Geralt thinks their time is largely past considering how few monsters are still running around.

She'd never be a true witcher
Exactly, and Geralt wouldn't want her to be, he'd fight her day and night if she was so adamant on getting the mutations. Geralt of all people would tell her how fucking painful and awful they are, And even if there was a 1% percent chance of Ciri dying during the trials he'd say no (and it's guaranteed she'd die unless they pull elder blood shit out of their ass.) He'd instead hype up his daughter and her unique god powers over the trial of the grasses. Geralt isn't upset about his lot in life but she could go talk to Lambert and he'd talk her ear off about how fucking awful it is being a genuine witcher and how much he despises it.

Geralt's reward for taking so well to the mutations was to be subjected to an experimental, extra-harsh version of the Trial of the Grasses. His white hair and pale, gaunt complexion are a result of near-fatal toxic shock from that, and he and the other witchers were barely able to stomach what they put Avall'ch through to undo his curse as a result of going through that sort of thing first-hand, despite knowing it was their only shot at both undoing that and finding Ciri.

So yeah, no fucking way, Jose, but considering Yennefer already did pull off a version of the Trial on Avall'ch, and Geralt and co had to go dig up the original process so Yennefer could alter it for their needs, something that gives Ciri a few enhancements like the Witcher eyes without completely rearranging her insides is quite possible.

TL;DR: A fucking wizard sorceress did it.

I'm playing the game now.
Sure, 4.0 changed skills and whatnot, but the game is still easy, even on Death March.
I love the game, but the combat and difficulty, I'll never defend.

As to her being old and female
I'll never play Witcher 4.
It smells like a soulless cash grab.
Also, remember that all 3 games were very horny, with Geralt banging everything with a pair of tits. How would that translate when playing as Ciri? Gonna slut it up?
Gonna collect cards of naked dudes you banged during the game?
It just doesn't work.

Don't forget the Witcher 1 drinking contests, and the boxing matches in all three games. He wasn't just fucking women like crazy, but also drinking dwarves under the table and punching people in the face and taking their money.

They'll never slut it up with men. Daughter surrogates in gaming are always lesbians so the players don't feel cucked.

AFAIK she explicitly had no magical talent specifically due to her bloodline powers and it was these she renounced there. And it weren't really the powers that were renounced, but it was her resisting... something, a possesion by her genetic memories? Have to reread that part but it was something anime-coded to the tune of I'll never use my powers for evil gay shit. Also it was not reaching into Plane of Fire but absorbing mana from a campfire, and fire is the hardest of the four elements in the Witcherverse to use as a mana souce.

Fun fact: through failing to properly draw mana from fire, Ciri absorbed waaay too much of it which had an intended consequence of giving her an instant orgasm. No I am not making this up.

It would be badass to do a realm/reality jumping game us über-Ciri, and to explore the possible implications of such a life. But there's no way current dev team could accomplish that, it'll just be Witcher 3 with a period.

It doesn't have to be a choice between a lesbian and a slut.
When we used to have a female protagonist in older games, she'd have a single romantic interest.
The problem is modern developers and writers are pathetic faggots, who will feel the need to make said male romantic interest into a beta bitch, out of fear that he will outshine the protagonist, or because they have a problem with "damsel saved by prince" trope.

I believe it.
Sapkowski has that sleezcore vibe to him.
I'm not even saying it's a bad thing. I believe good writers should not be afraid of sexuality, and that handled well, weird perverted shit makes the story more enjoyable.
For example, Frank Herbert (of Dune) had some outlandish fetish ideas in the latter books, like Leto 2 in worm form doing some jizz festival for his women only soldiers.

TBF it's written subtle enough for my 13yo self to not get it when reading it for the first time. Sapkowski, what I heard from people who got to meet him in person, is allegedly more a stereotypical leftist liberal simp. Extremely abrasive prick... unless you're a cute young woman, then he's turning into a gentleman out of nowhere. Typical.

Sex scenes will probably be cut entirely or just fade to black.

CDPR could make railroading Ciri into being a lesbian funny if any time you tried banging a dude, you got a special failure ending where she gets pregnant and has to give up being a witcher for 9 months.

As to Ciri being the main character, it does suck. I understand why they didn't go for a build your own witcher though after Cyberpunk made every V a street kid. She's a witcher in the same way she's Geralt and Yennefer's daughter. She's not, but it doesn't matter.

I'll probably play 4 to at least try it out. I'm more upset about Ciri being the protagonist because I really wanted to see them tell a story entirely removed from Geralt's adventures, not so much that it's le heckin woke or whatever. Not to mention Ciri being what she is, which I'm guessing will take away from the actual Witcher part of the game. What use does she have for signs when she's got crazy elf blood? What story can the literal child of prophecy have that isn't matching the stakes of 3 or going even higher? The only thing I suppose I'd like to see from the game is a continuation of the poltical strife. I actually did want the create your own witcher schtick, but maybe it's the wrong route to go for these games.
