Wikipedia says "A waffle is a dish made from leavened batter or dough that is cooked between two plates that are patterned to give a characteristic size, shape, and surface impression. There are many variations based on the type of waffle iron and recipe used. Waffles are eaten throughout the world, particularly in Belgium, which has over a dozen regional varieties. Waffles may be made fresh or simply heated after having been commercially cooked and frozen."

How do you like your waffles? Rectangular or circular? What do you eat them with? Do you have any controversial opinions about them?

Go ahead and discuss anything about waffles in this here thread!

I like my waffles circular, dump a bunch of syrup on them, and eat with a fork and knife. Sometimes I add a strawberry to mine if I'm feeling like it. Even though sometimes when no one is around, I just shove it into my mouth. They're a really good breakfast when I don't have work and have time to cook for myself :)

The Pancake thread sends it's disregards.

I like waffles with savory things, especially fried chicken but I actually own a "stuffler" which I use to make my own stuffed waffles with eggs and sausage inside and other such things.

Also I love waffle fries, I don't know if that counts but I still love them.

I like using waffles as the "bread" for breakfast sandwiches. Two quarters of a big waffle, a sausage patty and as many scrambled eggs as you can fit is the kino way to eat hotel breakfast.

I've mixed mashed potatoes, egg, flour and garlic to make potato waffles. They were a great side to go with sloppy joes. I would do it again but my shitty little $12 Walmart wafflemaker is on its last legs.

Apple butter goes amazing both in and on waffles.

I just recently learned about the Waffle House Index. Highly amusing, especially given where I grew up as a kid.

Anyone know what our current WAFFLECON threat level is right now? There was apparently an actual website some years measuring Waffle House statuses across the U.S., but said website sadly no longer seems to be in operation.

I thought about buying my dad a waffle iron like in the American hotels that you can flip around. Decided not to since I'm pretty sure though that will cut a decade from his lifespan.
Here's a fun fact about those hotel waffles: almost all of 'em are made by the same manufacturer. Even Disney's theme parks and premium hotels go to this one manufacturer than making their waffle mixes.

And no, they're not from Sysco for once. The brand is called Golden Waffle (previously known as Golden Malted) and you can buy the mixes on Amazon.

Croffles are pretty good, it's like if a croissant and a waffle had a baby.
