Right although these groups have been active for a long time, this past year "dissident" republican have substantially stepped up their activity due to publicity of Brexit and the potential of a physical border on the island of Ireland.
Two significant things this year is the resurgence in activity of the Continuity IRA which had been rather inactive for nearly six years. And the second being alot of discontent with in Loyalism and the high potential that armed Loyalist groups could return to violence if the north of Ireland is treated differently from the UK in anyway or any sign of the north being united with the south.

- 19th January: The "New IRA" detonates a car bomb outside a courthouse in Derry
- 5th March: NIRA was responsible for letter bombs sent to England.
- April: The Continuity IRA fire a volley of shots over a republican grave in Carrickmore, County Tyrone.
- 18th April: The NIRA accidentally shoot dead journalist Lyra McKee while firing shots at police landrovers during rioting in the Creggan, Derry.
- 26th July: The CIRA was responsible for an booby trap device attempting to target police in Craigavon, County Armagh.
- 19th August: The CIRA was responsible for a bomb attack on police and army bomb disposal experts in Wattlebridge, County Fermanagh.
- 1st September: A spokesperson for the CIRA appears in an interview for a Swedish news network.
- 7th September: improvised mortar belonging to the NIRA is discovered in Strabane, County Tyrone.
- 10th September: IED belonging to the NIRA targeting police is discovered in the Creggan, Derry.
- The CIRA claimed responsibility for an attempted attack on police with an improvised .50 cal rifle back in December 2018.
- 16th October: A spokesperson for the NIRA appeared in a interview for Channel 4 news.
- 4th December: The CIRA was responsible for a grenade attack on a police car in West Belfast. -

- 31st January: The CIRA are blamed for an attempted bombing of Belfast docks to coincide with Brexit day.
- (Latest) 17th May: Alleged of ex member of ONH Kieran Wylie is shot dead in front of his family in Lenadoon Belfast
- (Latest) 16-17th May: The Continuity IRA carried out a foot patrol near Wattle Bridge County Fermanagh before firing shots in a near by graveyard.
