Ok, here me out.
This is my proposal, to find some middle ground, because I can kind of see where null is coming from (as explained in MATI). I don't know if this is technically possible.

  • Replace the reaction score with a ratio between posts to points. I always did this in my head, and I think many did this too, to determine the users posting-quality. Gay or not, it is useful.
  • Send a notification like: "x has interacted with you post in y thread." I use this to get reminded of threads, especially less active ones. You get one notification if there is a new post in a watched thread. If you miss it or don't feel like visiting that thread right now, there is nothing to pull you back into it, except for you actively seeking it out.
Why are stickes and their notification useful?
  • I don't want to have to watch all the threads I'm mildly interested in. Watched threads should be reserved for special ones.
  • Sticker notification indicates movement and participation in threads.
All things considered, I kind of enjoy not havin a score. It's just a shame that my main way of checking back on threads is gone.

People care less about the score than about the notifications, for all the reasons OP laid out. You are a faggot.

I just miss my way of knowing if a thread is active or not. Not knowing the score and not getting notifications will probably result in me posting more. If this is a good thing or not remains to be seen. The scoring made me at least try to make somewhat decent posts. And yes, I'm aware how cringe this sounds.
