Is it really an easier Elden Ring? Because person getting powers and running around doing shit sounds more like Infamous to me.

Before I wrap up, let’s spare a word for Frey, a notionally Black protagonist who joins a growing trend in media of putting Black people in worlds where race is inconsequential. Except the game is very insistent that Frey is a New Yorker, mysterious birth or no, spending her entire life up until this point growing up in our decidedly nonfantasy world, where Blackness is not a nonfactor. Regrettably, Frey’s identity is thinly written and awkwardly deployed, as the story leans not only on stereotypical narratives but trauma as a plot device.
BTW, is this the first black female isekai video game?

My favorite part so far:

Frey: Shieet, nigga, is that a muhfuckin' dragon!?

Cuff: W- what??? J- just hide somewhere.

A YouTube Let's Player I follow released a video today of a full walkthrough of Forspoken, which clocked in at 8.5 hours. Same dude also released a cutscenes only video that came in at 4.5 hours long. They're asking $70 for four hours of gameplay attached to the shittiest movie ever.

Holy Shit that dialogue. It's worse than I expected.

In a sensible world, that's the kind of dialog that should be coming from an antagonist, to drive home how arrogant they are. Hell, I could see that exact dialog word-for-word coming out of Borderlands' Handsome Jack and some lackey failing to reign him in.

But in Forspoken, that's the protagonist

that you're supposed to connect with

jeez

I honestly find games with wildly different review scores to be more interesting than total duds or total hits. To me it says it might try something interesting that didn't quite work out. I'd take it over 10/10 "games as art" style things.

So I wanna try it out when it inevitably hits like $10 later this year.

If it wasn't that modern writers being a hive mind I'd agree. I'd rather play a game that half of the people who played it loved it and the other half hated it, than 9/10 goyslop that's a derivative of a better game. However nowadays such a divisive score means the game is so woke/shit half the reviewers give it a bad score to not appear completely disingenuous.
