I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

Do you not think the ADL and SPLC are run and funded by jews?
Horseshoe theory is probably the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. "These authoritarian groups are both authoritarian so they're exactly the same!" lmao ok...

I don't think the DNC will risk an ouster of the four brown women of the apocalypse until they control the executive again. They can't risk pouring water on their base unless they tack hard to center which I don't see happening this or next year.

edit:
Come on dude it isn't exactly a secret

Read their mission statement
Btw the organization's first case was to defend a jewish business owner who raped and murdured a 13 year old girl. Once again straight from the horse's mouth
Wasn’t later proven that the business owener did not rape that girl and instead, was a black laborer?

I highly doubt the ADL and SPLC are part of some high-end Mossad conspiracy, given that a lot of the SPLC likes to bitch about Islamophobia and Morris Dees basically founded the SPLC as a money-making scam to bilk rich white Yankee liberals out of their money.

The ADL may be a Jewish organization, but it originated in the era of actual widespread antisemitism and anti-immigrant sentiment in America, and now it's just another money-making liberal watchdog group that is largely unconnected from the wider Jewish community.

The modern ADL is mostly wealthy left-wing secular Jews from the coastal cities who are basically copying the same playbook as the SPLC. They are not connected to the Israeli government nor any other conspiracy nonsense.

You do realize that the Protocols of the Elders of Zion was just some bullshit written by Russian anarchists back in the early 1900's, right?

Yes, Leo Frank was completely railroaded. Not only do most scholars think he was innocent, they’re fairly certain Jim Conley, the factory’s janitor, raped and killed Mary Phagan.

The governor of Georgia reduced Frank’s sentence from the death penalty to life. Even though he was in jail and would be for a very long time, he was kidnapped from his cell and hanged. No one was charged. Leo was pardoned in 1986, and his conviction and lynching are still considered a major early miscarriage of justice.

Using the Frank case as a means of pointing fingers at da jooz is laughable on its face. At least put in a little effort.

the far left is every bit as antisemitic as the far right, but are simply better at disguising it.
They ain't hiding shit. People are either blind to it, they see it and intentionally look away or are willing to see it but others cover for them and try to explain it away.

Israel not important. The middle East not important. Only China important.
It's actually funny how polacks cry about israel and the cleansing of white race, when it has pretty much already happened since China's population and economy is going full throttle.

Those problems aren't mutually exclusive. We can be concerned about China AND Israel.

Israel pulling us into wars and entangling alliances has drained western nations (Particularly the US) in terms of lives, money, and diplomatic capital. We spent so much energy on the Middle East that we can no longer even project our power into Venezuela. I don't agree with projecting power in Venezuela, but East Asia will be changing a lot thanks to declining US power. Taiwan will be annexed one way or another in the near future. South Korea might seek better relations with China and end up in China's sphere of influence. Japan may do the same or lose the Senkaku Islands.

Also whites have become politically correct and deracialized mostly thanks to the Jewish diaspora. Due to this and the ethnic Chinese lobby in the US we've had problems cracking down on ethnic Chinese spies in America. The Chinese have been reaching out to the Chinese diaspora with their "Thousand Grains of Sand" approach.

Also the Israeli spy (((Jonathan Pollard))) sold US secrets to China related to the Chinese theft of US technology. Jewish organizations, the Israeli gov't, and prominent politicians (Disproportionately Jewish) lobbied for his sentence to be commuted. Fun little fact: most foods and kitchen products in the US are kosher certified. Those Jewish kosher organizations that were paid by those food companies funded the lobbying efforts to free (((Pollard))). So Americans, your grocery bill likely contributed a small amount to freeing an enemy spy. Thanks Jews!

In my opinion the spike in the recent, anti-israeli rhetoric could be backed by the saudis, and if push comes to shove and we have to pick one side wouldn't it be reasonable to pick israel?

Why, when they could just nuke each other and solve so many problems?

(Before somebody writes a 10 paragraph explanation this one is actually a joke)

God I hope so. If Iran then reversed their shitty revolution and became a strong ally and Iraq got their shit together it would be a perfect world.

Every racial supremacist movement has to pick out another race to blame all the ills of the world on to explain their own race's inadequacy in securing that much-vaunted supremacy.

When did I ever say those were a Mossad conspiracy (ahem dancing Israelis ahem)?
When did I ever say anything about the Protocols of the Elders of Zion?
Putting words in my mouth and trying to turn me into some conspiracy theorist is a weird angle.

I'm just pointing out that the big 2 badly behaved NGOs are funded and led by Jewish people, so of course there will be animus about it. The far left hating Israel for being an ethnicity obsessed state and committing common-in-the-ME rights abuses, the far right hating these Jewish administered organizations, and the dichotomy between the two isn't something that can be explained with some caved in skull take like horseshoe theory. Saying "the Squad" and the aut-right are the same doesn't make any sense in this context. The situations and sentiments are obviously a lot more complex than Rational Skepticism™ allows for.

The ADL is a explicitly Jewish group that explicitly advocates for Jewish interests. Odd that big businesses use them for diversity training. Even odder that our government enforcement arms like the FBI and police forces often take direction and receive training and awards from them.

As far as thinking the SPLC is advocating for "huwite genocide," what do you call this?

So the left eats this shit up and the right eats the whole "military ally" thing up (though I can't think of a time Israel ever fought on our side in a war) and hate the other aspect. It's a weird, complex position. Israel and left wing American Jews are tied together because over 70% of American Jews say caring about Israel is an important part of being a Jew, 66% said they considered Israelis part of their family, and 79% said a thriving state of Israel was vital for the long-term future of the Jewish people.

One, the SPLC was not founded by Jews (Morris Dees is a Southern WASP) nor is it run by the Jews unless you counted a bunch of upper middle-class hipster dangerhairs paying off their law-school debts as Jewish.

Two, what the fuck are you smoking and can I have some of it?

Your paranoia over the Jews is every bit as ridiculous as SJW paranoia over Nazis.

To bring this back on topic, what kind of scandals (aside from the outcome of the 2020 Election) do you all think will be the "Big One" that will convince the DNC to drop the Squad for good?

Omar and Talib are probably going to say something very boneheaded in regards to Islamic terrorism or really ramp up their anti-Israel sperging to a point where not even MSNBC would defend them (VICE might still try to, but they're dying anyway)

AOC is about guaranteed to have someone primary her out of Congress once the 2020 Election is over, possibly even before then depending on who gets the Democratic Party's nomination and whether or not some local Democrat in her district is feeling really ballsy.

Ayanna Pressley is the one I know the least about, and like I said before, she has the highest chance of staying in office but if she does, she'd likely "sell out" after a certain point due to either disillusionment or those sweet payouts from the lobbyists and special interest groups allied with the DNC.

They ain't hiding shit. People are either blind to it, they see it and intentionally look away or are willing to see it but others cover for them and try to explain it away.

The way they spit out "Zionist", it's clear that the word is now a synonym for "filthy Jew". Other liberals pretend they don't notice how the word is used in practice.

It's also cute how anti-Semitic liberals claim that they have no issue with Jews who aren't "Zionists" when the vast majority of Jews support Israel in some fashion. They might not like the conduct of the Israeli government, but at least 90 percent want Israel to continue to exist, which makes them "Zionists" by definition. If your definition of the "good ones" includes a tiny percentage of a minority group, then it kinda looks like you have a problem with all of them.

I don't much care for the Israeli government but don't have an issue with Jews as a whole, I don't know who to rate autistic

Also the squad are dumb but people who get buttmad because some freshman congresswoman criticizes Trump or capitalism are hilarious. They're just the leftwing version of the Michelle Bachmann fundie types that would say hilariously dumb evangelical shit, if you do anything other than laugh at them you take politics way too seriously
