I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

Keep digging that hole, ladies!

Boycotting Israel is like opposing Nazi Germany, supporting those financed by the Third Reich and Nazi's is kosher though.

François Genoud was born in 1915 in Lausanne, in the french-speaking part of Switzerland. In his teens he became an admirer of Adolf Hitler, met the future “Führer” in person in 1932, and remained a staunch National-Socialist until his death in 1996.

In 1936 this was amended with another life long committment: to Arab nationalism, when he and a friend traveled to the middle east and met many leaders of the Palestinian national movement then exiled in Iraq, and in Jerusalem most importantly the Mufti, Haj Amin al-Husseini, himself not only the historic leader of Palestinian nationalism, but also a close ally of Nazi-Germany.

There's always been talk about how much money from the Third Reich was stashed in Switzerland and Genoud was actually a Nazi banker in Switzerland. So...

Nazi hunters such as Serge Klarsfeld and Simon Wiesenthal, journalist David Lee Preston, and others have asserted that his role as a benefactor for surviving National Socialist interests goes much deeper, offering evidence that Genoud was no less than the principal financial manager of the hidden Swiss assets of the Third Reich after World War II.

Some of the things he spent money on.
François Genoud (26 October 1915 – 30 May 1996) was a noted Swiss financier and a principal benefactor of the Nazi diaspora through the ODESSA network and supporter of Middle Eastern terror groups during the post-World War II 20th century.

Here's where it gets really good. (the 6 Day war, before and after, is relevant)
Palestine
In the 1960s Genoud began supplying arms for Palestinian causes. The Lausanne-based New European Order organisation, met in Barcelona in April 1969 where Palestinian groups received financial support and Genoud placed them in contact with former Nazis who would assist their military training, including pledged support designated for the Palestinian Liberation Organisation(PLO). He was a close associate of Dr. George Habash and Jacques Vergès, and in September 1969 he contributed finances for the legal expenses of three Palestinians from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine following their attack on an El Al flight in Zurich, where he personally sat at their defense table.

Not surprisingly, François Genoud soon made contact with members of the new generation of exponents of Palestinian nationalism. The closest relation he struck was with the supposedly “left wing” PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine), becoming a good friend of Waddi Haddad(plane hijackings).
...
Neither the PFLP(Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine) nor Fatah(Palestinian National Liberation Movement) had problems associating with old and new Nazis, or members of the “New Left” at the same time. Fatah sent two observers to a congress of an ultra-racist organisation called the New European Order, headed by the notorious Swiss Nazi and holocaust denier Gaston-Armand Amaudruz. This of course was in the same year – 1969 – that the German SDS (left wing student organisation) sent a delegation to the PLO congress to Algier to express their comittment to the “Endsieg” of the Palestinians against Israel.
(nothing ever changes)

He was closely associated with Ali Hassan Salameh[Munich Olympic terror attack on Israeli athletes], providing him medical care ...

Omar is facing an uncomfortable inquiry into a marriage that may have been a fake arranged citizenship scam and the possbility the other party may have been her very own brother. Some Muslims align themselves along clan kinship so their definition of family is looser than ours meaning Omar may not be her actually family name but used to claim familial status so it could actually not be her real surname. I think she's desperately trying to rally support for her claims of Islamophobia to discredit any investigations into her shady past.

This could be turned into The Squad megathread since these bitches are going to be rolling together for a while.

Pressley is a fairly standard politician so don't expect much from her, but Omar and AOC are full blown lolcows while Tlaib is sort of an affiliated clown show.

Basically 3/4 of them are insane wannabe meangirls

Are local GOVERNMENTS boycotting Israel? That's A) not their place and B) yes, schizophrenic diplomacy

It's actually the opposite - local and state governments are making laws that it is illegal for anyone receiving government money to boycott Israel. The most recent national news story on the subject was a teacher in Texas who was fired after refusing to sign a pledge not to boycott Israel.

In general I think these anti-BDS laws are almost certainly unconstitutional, and even if Congress doesn't outlaw them, they'll probably be struck down by SCOTUS sooner or later when a challenge to one makes it that high.

The Texas teacher is, perhaps predictably, a muslim naturalized citizen named Bahia Amawi, and if you think that has anything to do with her principled stance you're a bigot.

Coordinate with state democrats to eliminate their district entirely (eliminating the position for which they were elected, which effectively removes them from congress)

The Squad Squatters

If it takes that long to shit, they should probably see a doctor. You should have a movement almost daily.

"She was looking to get into politics"

That fucking pajeet :story:

Lipstick met then Representative Kirsten Gillibrand (now Senator) at the Sunshine Bronx startup incubator in the summer of 2012. That was her entry into politics. For some reason they refuse to mention ol' Kirsten though.

I honestly don't even know what the fuck qanon is supposed to be but the fact that the media keeps bringing it up tells me it's some random alex jones tier shit the media hates for no logical reason
It's a crazy larp/trolling op/psyop targeting boomers that ended up with a thread here and it could be considered the successor to PizzaGate. The tl;dr is that some /pol/ tripfag claimed to be a government insider with a Q security clearance, that the deep state was real, and that the good guys in the government are going to fight the bad deep state guys or some shit.

Conspiracy theorists predictably ate it up, while others in the right either laughed it off or warned it was a dangerous delusion/government psyop. It was pretty much the right wing version of left wing fanfiction depicting Hillary/Bernie winning and saving the day or antifa supersoliders taking back the USA from facist Trump.

just more proof that the left isn't the only thing wrong with politics in 2019.
I'm as smug a centrist as the next guy, but if you think this says anything about the Republican party, as opposed to saying something about how fucking desperate the left wing media is, then I have a bridge to sell you.

Don't worry, I'll list the bridge in the Guardian, so you know it's reputable.

I'm not saying they're rotten in the same way but this whole shit is cyclical. One of the parties rises up, another one becomes pseudo-counter-culture, the latter slowly regains relevance and the roles flip. All that sane people can really so is minimize damage.
