When Trump announced the creation of Space Force, it was a time of extreme Trump derangement.
So deranged people were automatically of the opinion it was some utterly retarded thing done by the Cheeto man. Some people in Hollywood decided they'd create a TV series about the stupidest idea ever for a new branch of the military. You have to be aware that these people were incapable of assessing what Space Force was, why it was done or anything. They just knew it in their bones that the orange man was doing something utterly ridiculous.
They got the creator of the US Office and Steve Carell on board with just the concept of a comedy based on Space Force. If I recall correctly, they literally got it greenlit for a season before they even had a script or anything else besides thinking mocking Trump's Space Force would be the easiest thing to do on planet Earth. The show was not successful.
By the time they made the show, people had kind of moved on from the idea Space Force was silly except for the most deranged who would watch it determined it'd be the next Office. I have never seen it, but there was an AOC inspired character, which I believe was a very soft satire involved in oversight of the spending in Space Force. Basically, an attempt to slightly pretend the show wasn't as partisan as it was. The people watching the show then had a cry, because how dare they satirize a Democrat.
