I came across this feminist podcast called The Slovenly Trulls who like to go into the history of Dungeons and Dragons, complain about the patriarchy, call themselves harlots, demand D&D "does better". They update once a month so posts will be spaced, but we can have fun in the meantime.

I wonder if these people are singlehandedly responsible for the cuckening of Firbolgs in 5e? If so I demand they be killed.

Out of curiosity, what exactly happened?
They turned them from awesome vikings into gay bear fetishism.

I will give these ladies credit for doing their research on the subjects from definitions to examples in D&D. Baba Yaga is arguably one of the first crone characters in fiction, but they still find her portrayal "ageist" due to her being a "harmful stereotype". Since negative examples like Baba Yaga leads to mistreatment of real life feminine old women since stereotypes warp our thinking.

The thing is that evil/mean old women exist in the real world (even if they don't know magic.) Should we never make old women in fiction a bad guy to avoid crone stereotypes and avoid warping the minds of dum-dums who can't tell truth from fiction?

I wonder what they'd think of Zenescope's potrayl where Baba Yaga used her magic to be an attractive young woman. Then again, since this one is evil, they'd rack it up to the "evil is sexy" trope.

I would rather not expose myself to people like these even for fun. If I had my way, they would be vaporized. Like turned into a pink mist.

Going back to their rant about femicide in Lord Soth and Strahd's pasts, it got me thinking. While I haven't read the books and my knowledge of Soth is more from the Ravenloft adventures, I can see that his actions driven by selfishness and lust had disastrous consequences even to himself. That's the tragedy of his character and it took him a long time to realize it. Female characters with plot armor as thick as the main character from Least I Could Do would be boring and annoying. As for Strahd, his actions are portrayed as a bad thing and goes well with the air of goth horror.

The "good" reboot-Ravenloft example they give takes original Mordenheim (cishet man) who is a mad scientist based on Dr. Frankenstein and cursed to be unable to revive his comatose wife (it happened due to him and his monster's own flaws) and changed him into a female lesbian who was able to revive her lady love into a new race and now the lover wants nothing to do with her.

Yet another gaggle of brain-rotted harridans parading around their entitlement and hatred while celebrating their vandalism as empowering. Might have stood out more in 2012, now they're just another crusty dinghy in the endless sea of Nerd Women™. Yawn.
I suppose the only thing this group does to stand out is that they chose a slightly more honest name. Ten monopoly money says they are either incapable of cleaning their dwellings and/or have an average of 3-4 (living) cats each.

That's the most retarted thing I've ever heard.

I know they got rid of the Egyptian-eske roots of Sharess and made her more of a traveling hippie.
I always love it when allegedly progressive writers suck the culture out of something because of stereotypes or appropriation or some crap, because it ultimately ends in whitewashing, which I was always told was a bad thing.
Isn't it silly to rewrite the lore of Forgotten Realms anyway? It's dnd, you can just make up whatever you want. I guess they're making their own Toril with blackjack and hookers.

Or they gut so much that there's literally nothing left (see the Antebellum-era Souragne in the Ravenloft reboot being turned into empty swamp land with only one person in it).

The Harlots complained that despite Sune's (the love and beauty goddess) appearance being partially based on Gary Gygax's first wife, she still adheres to white male patriarchal beauty standards. Thus, she has been "done dirty".

They made her pretty thus they have done a disservice this character because reasons. Make a character vaguely appealing? Horrible, disgusting, what a travesty!

Going back to Sune only appealing to white, patriachal males, I bet there are plenty of POCs from non-white dominated countries that would bang her.

I sincerely doubt that most 'white male patriarchal' beauty standards would be considered a major negative around the world. I'd also wager if Gygax made Sune based off another culture they'd just be complaining that it's appropriation. There is no winning move.
