I suspect there is a lot of truth to this, and probably a fairly large overlap between some degree of mental illness/low intelligence and pedo behavior. At least in the ones who get caught in these kinds of situations. Like you said its a sort of tunnel vision even in situations where basic logic says something isn't right, like being asked to bring specific stuff. Its really not that different from an actual wild predator response in the moments before they make their move on their prey, they get hyperfocused on it and block everything else out for the moment. Except these idiots do it the whole time as soon as they get convinced they're going to get what they want. Case in point - just look at how lucas werner behaves when he thinks he's hooked an underage zoomer bae or about to get something he wants. Everything else gets blocked out no matter how blatantly obvious such things make it that he's being set up. Even with people telling him flat out and explaining to him exactly how its going to go down nothing breaks that fixation. His is maybe more of an extreme case given most predators aren't nearly as stupid as he is but I suspect the same underlying psychology is there, its just more obvious in him because he's a legit idiot and isn't smart enough to act the way the others do

It really makes me wonder what an actual psychological study on these types of people in these sorts of situations would turn up. Both from an actual psychological profile standpoint and a neurological one

Predator poachers first caught them for trying to meet and rape a 13 year old girl and then once the police investigated further based on what they said in chat and during the pp interaction, it turned out the couple was producing and sharing CP with their own kids/babies. I kind of like Rosen's schtick. It is is often very entertaining to watch when it pops up in my youtube feed. My ultimate issue with these pred catchers though is they are ultimately just another influencer but because they catch peds they think this grants themselves a self righteous importance in which no one can question their methods and tactics. Just watch any scenario where a family member or property owner tells Alex to fuck off. The level of indignant he gets with them is just over the top. Then I realize he is not really mad about them protecting a pedo. He is just mad they are ruining his video. What's depressing is these videos don't even show a "smart" person what not to do. Only the absolute dumbest motherfuckers actually fall for this kind of bait. Anybody with a brain understands they cannot just go "window shopping" for 13-year-old pussy on the internet no matter what anybody says and you can't just go pick some up with ease even if you find a way to "place an order."

Actual abuse and grooming takes place largely in person, is still usually perpetrated by a friend of the family (because realistically speaking, who else has that kind of routine "trusted" access to a potential victim?), and is still absurdly rare anyway. Most "very stupid sex decisions" made by teenagers are with other teenagers, followed by "drug-related persons their other idiot teenage friends know or are occasionally in the presence of," meaning your daughter is most likely to be boffing idiot boys in her peer group, or fucking for drugs if she's falling into that crowd. "Being quietly groomed as an obedient, subservient sex slave by a drinking buddy you know from the local dive you drink at after work" is a distant third and "casually selling her ass for $100 to internet strangers as a 'fuck you' to daddy" is a near-implausible fourth.

Nothing these catchers "simulate" in their decoys even remotely resembles what actually happens when adults hook up with children IRL, at least not according to pretty much everything law enforcement and psychologists are willing to admit, anyway. I'm sure there are aspects of it they don't talk about publicly because that would be useful information to people trying to do this successfully.

Adults who actually manage to abuse children (i.e. they actually engage in illegal sexual activity) mostly do so opportunistically, and never by accident. They are clever about it, by cultivating a trustworthy reputation, earning trust and respect of groups of adults such that they trust their children either to the perp's care or at least accept the perp's regular presence in the childrens' lives. They're the kind of person who goes out of their way to appear trustworthy and safe (both to parents and the children themselves). They're non-threatening and protective, constantly vigilant about safety, and even (genuinely) act aggressively to stop other predators (how's that for irony?). They (seemingly) always ask permission before taking a child somewhere unsupervised, even momentarily, and even highlight it when something might seem "untoward" and they want to appear honest and trustworthy. Like "hey, Cindy wants to ride with me when we all head over to the park after the game this afternoon, you sure that's okay?" It's literally a five minute trip, no opportunity for "naughty" behavior, but they still acknowledge the potential impropriety and make a show of it. Those are the dirty little weasels you have to keep a close eye on (which sucks, because genuinely kind and honest people with no ill intent also behave that way out of respect for, y'know, other people's kids).

It reaches a point where if someone dares suggest "hey Bob, I know you guys all know that guy but are you sure it's a good idea to let him take your teenage daughter alone to [legitimate XYZ thing for school] like that?" they get the stink eye for "impugning" on the guy's "honor," and from there, said guy has got it made if an actual opportunity ever arises. At that point, with pretty much full trust and support of the neighborhood or whatever, all that has to happen is some teenager getting sad, lonely, misunderstood or whatever and engaging in standard-procedure teenage angst, Mr. Good Guy being receptive and understanding (especially by entertaining talks in private without judgment), and letting said teenager make the first move. He literally just has to wait for one to fall in his lap. Add a drop of feigned loneliness and vulnerability on his part, or a bit of "harmless" flirting to "lift her spirits a little bit," and it's not long before the panties drop. And since it was the kid's idea in the first place, unless they physically get caught in the act, the odds of ever being found out are absurdly low (even if she later decides it was abuse, because of the uphill battle of exposing the guy). This doesn't require "special" access to kids either -- it doesn't have to be a teacher, janitor, doctor, coach, nurse, tutor or whatever doing this.

The most uncomfortable thing about the above reality is that the only actual protection against that kind of insidious manipulation is top-notch parenting and tight-knit communities. Parents really do need eyes in the backs of their heads, need to have accurate, reliable networking with neighbors, friends, and fellow parents (even if they hate each other) to keep tabs on their kids' movements. Every irregularity should be questioned and investigated ("she got a ride home from school from Bob today, but it took them 30 minutes to make a 5 minute drive, what happened?"), even if only a little bit just to be safe. We have remarkably few neighborhoods left today that are capable of that kind of "dragnet-style" child care. If even one parent drops the ball (potentially even on purpose -- "I hate that stupid bitch so I don't care if her daughter's getting groomed by [blahblahblah]"), the whole thing breaks down. And our culture doesn't exactly help cultivate healthy neighborhoods like that either.

The people falling for these decoys are some of the dumbest humans on earth. It's genuinely a miracle such people can physically function in society well enough to actually make it to the meet-up. It does make for really funny content though when they get caught. I'll never forget the guy who confidently walked into the decoy's house wearing a diaper, who proceeded to shit in it on command within just a couple minutes of arrival. That's genuine stupidity. I cannot comprehend how that man didn't connect the dots at that point that something was going horribly wrong once a woman openly asked him to shit himself.

On that note, not only do these idiots have a history of faking giveaways, they have done it to trick people into allowing them into their homes and to get information out of people about the predator under false pretenses. Worse, they claim to be representatives of actual real companies that do giveaways and such on several occasions. This is all kinds of illegal and directly violates state gambling laws. Filming people in the bathroom under any circumstances is usually a felony and is always a crime. There is a reason you never see cameras any closer to a bathroom than a fair distance from the entrance. and doing it without their knowledge? Yeah that shit will land you in prison under all kinds of revenge porn and privacy violation laws. Courts do not fuck around with that kind of behavior, particularly when they are doing it for obvious harassment purposes and are trying to actually sell access to it, which adds a few more felony charges. Its also worth noting that security guards, let alone armed security guards are explicitly prohibited in all 50 states in the US and all 10 provinces and 3 territories in canada, from engaging in this kind of work and from being involved in these kinds of situations. Both they and the company that employs them and licensed them are liable for this shit. Even if nothing happens to anybody they can still be sued and fined a shit ton just for being involved. First, this sting had literally nothing to do with him or his merry band of idiots at all. Except for the fact he coincidently did a sting on him half a decade ago at some liquor store that didn't result in the guy getting arrested or prosecuted. The guys info in this case was passed on to skeeters group, because reasons, so they could set him up by renting an airb&b house and luring him out with a fake plumbing service call and then confront him for something that has literally nothing to do with him. and they start it off by taping a pic the guy sent of himself under the sink for him to see and realize somethings up.

Frankly thats the kind thing that i'd expect someone to do to scare the shit out of the guy and make him think he's fucked and this is some kind of weird revenge situation before they come up behind him and shoot him or some shit. Those kinds of surprises are exactly how situations like this escalate to the point somebody ends up in the hospital or dead.
