You'd rather we steal in pirate bay than use steam and we're supposed to just believe you're not a shill? How obvious can you fuckers be?
I am saying I'd rather have people pirate ALL games than use Steam and shit on Epic, you dolt :story: God, this thread is really desperate to point out people as shills, aren't they?

#1 rule of the internet, anyone who angrily says they will do something are by definition not gonna do it. If you're gonna pirate something, then do it quietly, it's much better to be a silent killer than a dismissable loudmouth.

We've seen it with Metro Exodus already, you go to every comment section on the internet ahead of its release, and you find people angrily complaining about shit and threatening to pirate the game and you think "maybe they will turn out to be right, no one will buy this game now that they've tarnished it at the most crucial moment" then BAM sales DO happen.

Just like the vocal dangerhair and soysmile mobs on Twitter don't necessarily reflect reality, it turns out that angry comment sections on the internet don't either, what a shocker!

Every time a community says they will do something, then don't, it becomes more predictable, and companies love predictable, predictable is heavenly manna for dev PR teams and community managers. As such, don't be surprised if devs become even more brazen in taking the Epic offer as time goes by.

You know try as I might I cannot seem to muster up any enthusiasm for this game. It looks like a mishmash of LOL so random and wannabe mid-90s lucasarts quirk and I can tell very clearly from the trailer that they are still using that same damn engine I've been cursing at since Morrowind.
Maybe it's because I'm an old and jaded gamer, but 3d engines have a feel to them. the Morrowind engine or whatever variation of it they're using for this has a very stocky rigid feel to it that was acceptable back in the day, but not anymore.

Uh what? I was with you up until you started talking about Gamebryo. This is not a Bethesda game, this isn't even published by Bethesda, it's not Fallout, it has nothing to do with any of that.

That Monster Zero is messing with your head JC, do you have a single fact to back that up?

At this point I wish I was getting paid just to tell people they should give the epic games store half a chance, it's incredible how little anyone has to say in favour of the mere existence of epic's store to be accused of being a literal paid shill, as if this is /v/ or something, it's embarrassing. All anyone really wants out of this is to give Valve a kick in the pants so they go back to actually competing and doing the fun stuff everyone used to love them for.

Edit - I stand corrected, this is using unreal 4. I remember reading about it using the Skyrim engine maybe a year ago but I guess things have changed. Thanks for correcting me.

The fat man Gabe Newell doesn't give a shit about anything but stuffing donuts into his gaping maw. The fat man sits atop his pile of gold and guffaws at the masses that pay him while jelly drips down his chin rolls. The fat man could make a new Half Life or Left 4 Dead but why would he when you ignoramuses keep lining up to hand him your shekels and keep him rolling in all the donuts and chocolate syrup his bulbous gut desires? The fat man cares not for your happiness, only satisfying his glutinous desire to consume more jelly donuts than a small African country and YOU are his enabler! YOU allow the fat man to wipe the powered sugar off his chins with hundred dollar bills and then you thank him for the privilege! YOU are the reason fatty Gabe will never make Half Life 3!

We must rise up and bring the fat man crashing down by rejecting the donut factory called Steam that allows him to do nothing but stuff his fat face with deep fried Oreos instead of making a new Portal. Together we can save the fat man from diabetic coma and usher in a glorious new age of video games for all time!

Tbh I hope they don't make any new games just to spite you anti-consumer drones. You must have fallen on your head as a baby to think consumers should swallow this tripe.

Came back to see you three circle jerking, so I will give my response.

Saying that I am sprouting buzzwords is ironic when you keep throwing around "Competition" as a justification for forcing people to buy from an inferior storefront that sees the customers as cattle. Anti-consumer basically means the store is pro-publisher, where the customer can't do shit and the publisher can rule over them with an iron foot.

You guys want arguments? But we have already given you the arguments you want, yet you keep denying it, like, are you guys masochists or some shit? Because supporting the Epic Game Store sounds like you guys are.

Oh, and I am just gonna leave this here, seeing as THIS is the storefront you guys support.

You know what the amazing thing is about not being a giant autist who limits himself to one store? I have all the options open to me. Epic makes a mistake? Valve wins, I get to buy a fun game on steam. Valve makes a mistake? Epic wins, I get to buy a fun game from their store. The consumer always wins. Shooting yourself in the foot because you hate one store and refuse to use it over another doesn't make it "anti-consumer" for the one you hate to have exclusive games. It's you being autistic and blaming it on someone else. Having each one be a threat to the other's bottom line makes each one try harder to earn your dollar. That's good for consumers. All this whining about being "forced" to use the epic store over Steam and crying about Epic buying exclusivity is extremely short-sighted and autistic.

I could reply to each part of your post, but this is the one that irks me the most. Why the fuck do people think that a store being pro-publisher/developer means it's anti-consumer? The very basis of a healthy economy system is when the platform, the publisher, the developer, and the consumer get some kind of benefit. If the developer is at the focus, that means they get more money to develop more games for, you guessed it, THE CONSUMERS. This stupid manchild mentality of "if you are not with us, you are against us" is what is murdering videogame competition right now.

Slightly more money for the publishers (CEOs) after the devs have already been paid for their efforts at the cost of basic services like servers, reviews, refunds and not having your data mined by the Communist Party of China?

Seems like a raw deal no matter how you put it.

The only thing I'll say about this is that I don't mind if developers make their stuff Epic-exclusive. What irks me (just a mild annoyance, not really mad) is that companies use the Steam logo to market games they then make Epic-exclusive. True, it's only time-exclusive, and it will eventually come to Steam, but it's still a little bit shady to use the Steam logo upfront when you're gonna make it time-exclusive to Epic. Had Obsidian used the EGS logo (or even just a generic "PC"/Windows logo) from the get-go then announced that Steam will come at a later date, no issues there.

In their defense, they were marketing the game well before EGS opened up a briefcase full of money in front of them. A briefcase so full of money that Obsidian (or Take Two) said "fuck Steam players, fuck our previous marketing, fuck the game's message of how awful giant corporations are, and fuck releasing (despite being a Fallout-esque game) on a platform that has mod support - we're going exclusive baby!"

Who knows, maybe by the time TOW ships the EGS will have a workshop added in (they won't).

Yay a black pink haired afro companion. Let that set the tone.
