I was just watching a fairly recent LEGO Simpsons video by Baron Von Brunk (a.k.a. the guy who made that lost Subway commercial video), and I didn't really get it at first.

It's just a minute of Marge gasping for air and choking, then dying all of the sudden before an ending screen that's reminiscent of MillenniaThinker's Wojak videos.

I like the animation and editing, but it seemed somewhat lackluster compared to his Bort Sampson video. Lo and behold I checked the comments, and the OP explained it himself to someone who pointed out the same thing:

So essentially the joke is that he's satirizing Julie Kavner's grotesque, geriatric voice, and more or less implying she's sickly and should just die already. I admit that the joke went completely over my head.

Weird, I'm actually subscribed to the dude's channel but didn't get a notification for that (thanks Susan). After watching it, I was able to figure out that he was probably just interpreting what Julie Kavner's voice sounds like after all these years...and the dying part was how the Simpsons is dead or something. But yeah, it was definitely lacking something.

Happy Little Elves and Frosty Chocolate Milkshakes are pretty much just things of Season 1 and the shorts.
Honestly, the Happy Little Elves were something that should have stayed in some capacity, even as just something that's on TVs in the background. Little details like that were what made the Simpsons feel real.

Another thing from the same era was how they tried to establish a chicken restaurant called Shakespeare's Chicken: I think Season 3 was the last appearance of it. In the 1st and 2nd Seasons you can see characters with red & white chicken buckets (ala KFC) with William Shakespeare's face on it, then they just sorta stopped using the gag.

That's because early on in the show's conception they intended to have Marge being drunk and irresponsible with Homer as the voice of reason, but they quickly shifted their roles.
I guarantee you had they done that, the show wouldn’t have lasted as long. Only because there’s now way modern television would allow the woman to be the wrong one and the man the voice of reason. Social media would have canceled the shit out of it.

I've been going through the early seasons recently and this is something I noticed too, I wonder why they dropped it.

Bob's Burgers?

It certainly felt like they had these ideas they wanted to do so they kept them in the background until later but it never got fully realized. Lord knows a Shakespeare's Fried Chicken would've been interesting a concept to further develop.

Seems they had Shakespeare Fried Chicken show up a couple of times in Seasons 15 and 16 (last time in that American Idol one that's just an excuse to get Yeardley Smith to sing), this just gets more curious

Christ The Good, The Bad And The Loki sucked. It was just so...pointless.

Two minutes of Lisa-bating, that shot of various Springfieldians as Marvel characters? Literally that. And 4 minutes mocking the mid scenes, which consist of an environmental rant and a scene that actually does a good job of showcasing how talky the Loki series is.

No! Not Janey, she'll pack the Supreme Court with boys!!

Remember when Matt Groening got unreasonably pissed off at The Critic crossover episode which is actually one of the more fondly remembered episodes of the show? But apparently this is fine for him.

Funny you mention that, because I saw some tards fighting on Twitter about the Loki episode, with proponents of Zombie Simpsons arguing that pointless celebrity cameos and crossovers have been a thing since The Critic episode (A Star is Burns), to which the replies consisted of culture warriors retorting that the aforementioned Critic episode was extremely controversial and divisive at the time, going so far as being denounced by Groening to the point of him removing his name off the opening couch gag credits.

To be fair, if it wasn't a hollow tie in of another property Disney conveniently owns it would be a damn funny joke. Homer meets another god figure who can duplicate a pork chop on request and he instantly renounces his vague Christianity and begins worshiping the Porkchopbringer.

It reminds me of the time Homer prayed to a waffle.

I'll be honest, as far as classic Simpsons goes, I think Marge is my favourite character. Her dryness and failed attempts at relating to her kids are just too perfect.

“Mom, is Dad going to kill us?”
“I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.”

thinking too hard about the simpsons' kitchen
I don't think I've ever lived in a place that had a window over the kitchen sink or an oven on an outside wall. both my grandparents did.
Seems like it would be a good setup, heat vents more to the outside, have a view of background noise from outside doing dishes
