They're still going after Trump. Well, Joe Biden is about 80 isn't he. So this could be a jab at any elderly 80 year old white man.

I personally believe this episode has the positional of being one of the worst Simpson's episodes in recent memory. Something about says it's going be forced where Lisa Simpson is somehow this gifted young woman who's experiences will outweigh her rival who would be presented as a dated Trump who's sexists, racists and everything else the left can throw at him.
So wait is the episode a jab at Trump? If so it makes no since. Since St. Biden is almost 80? Seriously political humor is dead

Nah, it's biden Jab since Trump's a few years younger than him. But they're trying to not upset the Lisas in the audience, so he's not mentioned by name.

Repost from the Moviebob thread:

Being autistic on The Simpsons is one of my weaknesses in life so I gotta point out how stupid Bob is in his interpretation of "Homer's Enemy."

The point of "Homer's Enemy" is to affectionately mock how zany the show had gotten after being on for nearly a decade. In seasons 1 & 2 of The Simpsons the plots were rather down to earth. Homer had to deal with getting fired from his job and how the depression drives him to attempting suicide. Bart has an emotional breakdown over finding out that he failed a History test that decides whether he has to repeat the 4th Grade. You get the point.

Frank Grimes serves as a comedic "What If?" of how a more down to earth Season 1-2 era character would react if put into the modern era show. He loses his fucking mind because the show now is over the top absurd. Swartzwelder intentionally lampshades this by doing what Simpsons rarely did by directly referencing past episodes: Homer being friends with Gerald Ford, going to Space, and even winning a Grammy. All this while working a day job as a Nuclear Technician.

When everyone at the funeral starts laughing over Homer sleeping it's not just about them not giving a crap about Frank Grimes. It's a self aware farewell to what The Simpsons once was when it was first developed by Sam Simon and James L Brooks.

But hey that's just a theory, an autistic Kiwifarms theory.

I'm happy for someone like David Silverman to still be getting work. The guy directed the very first episode of the show so it's good that they don't just throw him out like they did to Alf Clausen to save a few pennies. I'm not even upset that they'd produce something so lazily made, jokes that I think a kindergarten class could have made up. Because the show just has been trash for nearly 20 years.

What horrifies me is that there are rubes who happily watch this tripe and think it's great.

Be fair.

Some of the early Patty and Selma episodes were pretty good. There's only one good Lisa episode really.

Old-Timey Announcer: Glagnar's Human Rinds presents: This Week In The Universe!

[black and white film clip of a biplane circling a galaxy]

Fry: Ooh, this is real futuristic!

[camera pans over to the bots from MST3K]

Crow: Shh. Don't talk during the movie.
