Eh, Margerine is a bit heavier and has a faster tempo plus the pre-chorus is a bit different if I remember rightly.

Nixon would be "rehabilitated", while Trump would be as evil as the writers think he is without any charm.

Why, Planet Express might've stopped being a delivery company in favor of becoming a "resistance cell"...

Thank goodness then Futurama ended before the TDS era arrived, it's like a blessing in disguise.

Another terrible episode was the human/robot marriage. The story could have worked fine (in fact didn't they have a similar human/robot story before) but the "parody" of the Mormon anti-gay marriage ad was cringy that it cringed up the whole episode.

Yea, the rebooted Futurama episodes that got into politics were so bad that even if you have nothing against the message, you still can't watch it because it's so ridiculously preachy.

I can see the idea of replacing Nixon with another "evil president" if and ONLY if its Zapp Brannigan. Say something like "Trump is a stupid, narcissistic, womanizer so we put own own stupid, narcissistic, womanizer in as President of Earth" and have him say a Trump quote every now and then. Kif can be VP and Zoidberg can be Special Advisor to the President or Surgeon General. Point is don't turn it into a venue to just shit on Trump, put Brannigan in as President because hes a funny character and the last person who should be in charge of anything.

Who am I kidding I know they'd turn it into a TDS filled rant against Trump.
 
As much as I thought a lot of the post revival episodes of Futurama sucked I will say Meanwhile was an excellent high quality series finale and I very much doubt that when the Simpsons ends it will end with even a fraction of the dignity Futurama did.

That'd be worse, all the charm and personality Zapp had would be stripped away in favor of "making a statement".

Nixon worked since the writers were fully intent on hamming him up, Trump would just make the writers so assmad that they'd play him "straight" without any levity (intentional, anyway). The way they'd portray him would be so jarring to the show's usual tone that it could almost feel as out of place as that Family Guy episode dealing with abusive relationships.

That's not even to mention how using a contemporary president would make episodes age like milk in Death Valley.

In an odd way, I kind of like "the lovenasium" - Zapp's room - from that episode where they're rescuing animals from Vergon 6.
