Something from Futurama they definitely couldn't do in 2020 America is that "Cop Department" bit where that bug alien sounds like a stereotypical ghetto black guy, and the cops aren't portrayed as being inherently the "bad guys".

This is why normal tv is dying. F

And streaming media is just as bad about this, if not actively worse.

I'm assuming Dr. Hibbert and Lou will be next, if they even bother to show them again.

Lou is probably going to be written out since he's a cop anyway and Dr. Hibbert doesn't seem to be as prominent in the latest seasons so it might be a moot point.

I guess the Simpsons wants to be champions of the lowest tv ratings.

I think at this point, they don't care and are just marking time until their Fox contract expires at the end of Season 32.

Ideally, Disney would put the show out of its misery but Disney is built on the ideology of "Fuck You, Audience!" in the Iger era while Al Jean pioneered the technique of actively hating the fans and going out of your way to ignore criticism of the show's quality while intentionally doing things that will piss them off.

I still think the Rabbi Krustovsky fakeout was because Al Jean wanted to "trigger the fans, own the fans" just like the decision to keep Stark Raving Dad out of circulation and out of print even after the Finding Neverland guys were discredited and everyone forgot about MJ.

Seriously, Al Jean is probably the one individual who could be blamed for the rise of Zombie Simpsons unless you're one of those autists who automatically brands anything after Season 8 to be unwatchable "Zombie Simpsons" as opposed to "good/okay but not on the same level as the Golden Age"

I'm amazed he's still showrunner as he seemes to be absolutely miserable doing it.

This is one thing I don’t understand about the fandom. There were (and maybe still are) plenty of hidden gems post Season 8 (my personal favorite being Simpson Tide from Season 9, which was actually held over from Season 7 for whatever reason). Not to mention the Imposter Skinner episode was a holdover from Season 8, so even classic Simpsons wasn’t all that squeaky clean.

At this point, I think Al Jean's in it for the huge fucking paycheck from Fox and maybe because he gets some sort of sick thrill out of insulting the fans at this point. Harry Shearer's tired of the show and wants it to be done with but he's got a huge paycheck too so he's still in for now.

Honestly, I think it's those autists who automatically hate anything from Season 9 onward are part of why Al Jean became the prototype for people like Rian Johnson and Neil Druckmann

Really, Zombie Simpsons doesn't truly begin for me until Season 18 and the movie but even at the earliest, I'd put the start of Zombie Simpsons around Season 13 since that's when Al Jean becomes showrunner. The bulk of Season 13-15 are more "meh" than bad but the episodes of the show from those seasons that are good tend to be underrated gems.

The biggest problem with Season 9-12 isn't that the majority of episodes are bad. Most of that era's episodes are actually good. But the episodes that are bad tend to be really bad like Kill The Alligator and Run or Lisa The Simpson.

I'm a bit of an iconoclast when it comes to some of the more commonly hated episodes like The Principal and The Pauper, Saddlesore Galactica, and Homer vs. Dignity since the former two were more or less meant to be self-parody while Homer vs. Dignity is actually pretty good in the first half but gets derailed by the panda rape scene. Seriously, if the panda just mauled Homer, the joke would've still worked and it wouldn't got the levels of hate it did.

Hell, I don't even get butthurt over Maude dying, since that seems like a "they killed Hicks and Newt" autistic copout more and more as time goes on. That episode wasn't good but it was more "meh"

Replacing a voice actor can work if done correctly. I'd say the voice actor that did Aku in the last Samurai Jack season had it at least 95% identical to the original actor.

Sadly I have no faith whatsoever the Simpsons will do it correctly.
Fuck, even Family guy got someone who can do an impression of Cleveland to be be their new Cleveland. It'd just be easier to just drop Carl and replace him with a new character than replacing Hank with someone who'll probably not sound anywhere close to the voice he did for Carl. And I've heard Alex's voice, unless he can actually pull it off and we just don't know it, it'll probably end with either indifference or "THE SIMPSONS ARE RUINED FOREVER! AGAIN!" with no in-between.

Still makes me wonder who'll be replacing Harry as Hibbert, or if they're just going to write him out completely considering he's meant to be a Cosby parody.

Lmao, it's like someone on the production staff went "how can we fuck this up worse than the Apu thing?"

"Trigger the audience! Own the audience!"

Sadly, I think this is becoming less hyperbole and closer to what Al Jean actually believes in as time goes on. The fact he's now working with The Rat makes it even worse.
