1999 is considered "zombie Simpsons" era? I definitely don't agree with that, keep in mind I'm not an expert and haven't seen even close to every episode, but it seems pretty clear to me that the zombie era doesn't really started until maybe 2002 or 2003.

Zombie Simpsons started for me when E-i-e-i-(annoyed grunt) aired. That was the worst episode up to that point for me, so late 1999 early 2000. I only hung on for maybe a season or two after that because I was shit posting on a few Simpsons forums at the time.

Like I said, I like tho think of season 10 as the last good season (even if there's some good episodes soon after), which is (1) a nice round number, and (2) it keeps the show a '90s thing.

It's all a matter of opinion. As some have said even back then early message boards were decrying the new EPs as signs of the end of the good times, or in some cases hating on season 5 or so just because of EPs like deep space Homer for using the IN SPACE! gimmick. Others say for s brief period in the 2000s up till the movie the show got somewhat close to it's old self at least less like a cartoon by then

YER JUST LIKE YOUR MOTHER, CANT TAKE A PUNCH!

I love how the episodes homerpalooza and summer of 4ft 2 are knee deep in 90s culture. References to nin sonic youth and apparences by the likes of smashing pumpkins, the fashions on background characters mixed with those skater cuts that were everywhere. It really does feel like opening a time capsule of 1996

Which also brings us onto another good point. The background characters actually felt like they belonged in this world. The extras in current Simpsons have this weird look to them, like the animators drew them too realistically.

a lot of people have warmed up to him over... 20 years, but mike scully is still widely viewed as the man who did the unthinkable and murdered the simpsons - by turning it into the Funnee Wackee Half-Hour Homer Variety Show so his five daughters could have another hilarious cartoon to watch, in which homer in a panda fursuit gets his fat hairy ass buttfucked by the real thing. oakley and weinstein made plenty of missteps during their time as showrunners (the armin tamzarian episode is a holdover from season eight) and there are probably still alt.tv.simpsons diehards who think everything other than the ullman shorts and the first two seasons are complete fucking dreck, but the scully years are still particularly infamous

if you want to try sitting through a particularly catastrophic scully episode that seems to offend pretty much everybody, try the one where maude fucking dies from season 11

And Mr burns vs the vending machine and then Shortly after "owww my eye on not supposed to get pudding in it!" Honestly if they just cut or changed the panda scene like have homer be mauled not raped and homer vs dignity might be an ok episode

Plus Homer eating the Spiderman comic is hilarious in a black comedy sort of way
