Speaking of future, how was that Futurama-Simpsons crossover?

I'm guessing bad because Zombie Simpsons.

It was rather disappointing. Given that it was probably the last time we’ll ever see the Futurama cast — or maybe not, since Hollywood is so greedy — it was annoying how under-utilised all the characters not named Bender were. I also wish it could’ve been longer, like The Simpsons Guy.

Going over some of the early material, and it's amazing how expressive the animation could be back then, compared to the expensive but sterile animation of the past several years.

Consider the babysitter episode, which was the first episode put into production:

Look at all that inbetweening. Imagine how amazing The Simpsons would look if the animation had kept evolving over the decades instead of being deliberately restrained, you know so the animation wouldn't distract from "the writing" (as it is with animated sitcoms since), and then eventually cut down to the bare minimum and they spend more money on episodes than ever to produce a show that looks less expressive than a cheap 1980s era cartoon/action figure commerical. That's why the "guest" openings are particularly cruel, as if to taunt people with what the Simpsons might look like if animators with talent and verve were involved.

Did the person who drew that ever watch the show? Chief Wiggum is an overall nice guy. He's on good terms with the Simpsons and even has an odd friendship with Snake. He's never treated his fellow black cop Lou different from anyone else. Sure, he's a bit stupid but he's not a bad cop. He does overuse his power at times but it's usually for comical purposes.

I'm glad more people are appreciating the first season for what it could've been.

Wiggum is a textbook shit cop. He's lazy, unprofessional, trigger happy and completely incompetent. Literally the only good thing you can say about hid police work is he's not racist.
