So today The Simpsons has turned 30 years old.

> mfw I'm barely older than The Simpsons as a television series, but younger than more than half of the Tracey Ullaman shorts (:_(

Funny looking back and noticing how often they resort to the Tracey Ullman shorts for clips to use, but it was to be expected I'm sure. When the Simpsons got extremely big in 1990, there was a trading card set released that was all stills from the shorts too.

I was 9 when Tracey's show started and 12 when this first episode hit the airwaves. I was the right age for it.

I was four when it premiered. Didn't start watching it until I was around 7 or so, and I had to secretly watch it at my neighborhood friend's house because back then Bart was seen as a terrible influence on children, and the show as a whole was derided as offensive entertainment.

Funnily enough I run across more older conservative Christian boomers now who enjoy the show, or are at least ambivalent towards it than a younger audience does. Funny to see it go from being the show people clutched their pearls over to the show that some almost see as cozy.

Probably because Ned Flanders is the most sympathetic Evangelical Christian character portrayed on Talmudvision

WHAT THE FUCK
Yeah, most recently, the Simpsons did a Baby Shark joke.

Speaking of that, I forgot. I watched the newest episode last night. It was a Sideshow Bob episode. Out of the SB episodes I have seen, probably third worst. Not as bad as something like The Italian Bob or Funeral For A Fiend, but it definitely doesn't come close to anything that the original 6 SB's had to offer. It's pretty mediocre and bland with a few good jokes here or there, but it comes from a shitty twist ending and rushed character development from the characters who are actually stealing presents, via Burns and Smithers, where they do a weird Rosebud-esque thing showing how shit Burns' parents are. Pretty lame episode, though it was one of the better ones of the season. 3 or maybe 4/10.

"A bunch of escaped, infected monkeys are roaming the expressway. Despite the sweltering heat, don't unroll your windows, 'cause those monkeys seem confused and irritable."

It's very odd watching ancient simpson clips in the periods media, you feel generally ancient memories stir. even the style and context of the adverts reverts of an older period.
