I know Dr. Hibbert's physical appearance was based on Bill Cosby. But I was wondering if Harry Shearer based his performance on James Baskett's Uncle Remus from Song of the South. I mean, check out this laugh at the beginning of this clip!

IIRC, a lot of the early Simpsons writers were fans of classic Disney films, so it's possible.

Anyway, holy hell. He actually does sound like Dr. Hibbert. Maybe the design and idea of the character Bill Cosby, but the voice has gotta be from this. Harry Shearer once again proves that he is BASED and CULTURALLY-PILLED.

Indeed. But recently that idiotic "documentary" over Apu had the forums in a meltdown. There were snowflakes REEEEEING like mad, making dozens of posts about how "racist" Apu was every day and just screaming at anyone that disagreed with them.

I have a feeling the internet would handle it badly if it turned out I was right about Hibbert. The internet has deemed Song of the South racist, even though 99% of these people complaining about it have never actually seen it.
