A bit related to Jeffrey Epstein thread and it could be worth to mention here, what if Matt Groening got more than a simple rubble feet from Epstein's sex slaves and it could be a deadly nail to end the Simpsons?

Speaking of the end of the Simpsons, I saw that clip of a how the Simpsons could end who was probably already mentionned but it might be worth to mention it again.
 
Super Eyepatch Wolf has a new video, talking about how the Simpsons have continued in their zombified state, two decades from their source materials, to Simpsons memes like Homer backing up into the bush, Steamed Hams (especially Steamed Hams but it's edited in the style of Nier Automata) to new creations like Marge Simpsons Anime and Bartkira, to Simpsons Wave finally back to zombie Simpsons.

I can't decide if good or not; while interesting at times, like all his videos it is very pretentious and kind annoyingly breathless.

When I was a kid, my two favorite shows were The Simpsons and King of the Hill


At least King of the Hill ended before they went full zombie.

Even if the last two seasons were fairly weak, it was better than what Simpsons has become.

Also a lot of the problems with the final two seasons of KOTH were because of Fox renewing the show at the last possible second, since MacFarlane didn't have The Cleveland Show ready by then.

Even when they did finally end KOTH, Fox still had to air Sit Down Shut Up as temporary filler.
 
A big part of me was hoping that when Disney bought Fox they finally put a bullet into the Simpsons once and for all but they are advertising it as part of Disney+ which makes me think they are gonna keep it going for a while longer. While I can't say it hasn't had a massive cultural impact, the series as it stands now needs to finally be put down. At this point I don't even think the deaths of the main voice actors would even lead to the end, they would most likely use archived audio to keep making the show.

I wonder if FXX lost the license for their exclusivity streaming the show?

Normally, I would agree with you entirely but there's also something else to consider at play here with The Simpsons as compared to other Disney acquisitions.

Disney is not stupid and they know that The Simpsons has worn out its welcome, but also has never been on any major streaming platform in its entirety either.

Something like The Simpsons going to streaming would be a big deal, as would the series finale of the show.

They'll work The Simpsons IP for all its worth, but nearly all of its worth is in merchandising, licensed adaptations, and similar tie-ins. I'd expect to see a Springfield attraction at one of the Disney theme parks and maybe even another video game for the new consoles, or at the very least a remastered port of one of the more successful Simpsons games such as Hit & Run.

Even the suits at Disney would likely be aware of how the show has run on for far too long and can't go on much longer and they will likely make a big to-do out of the Simpsons series finale with a possible simulcast airing on Fox, ABC, and any Disney-owned channels like Freeform.

As it is, even Al Jean was seriously contemplating having the series end at Season 30.

When the guy most responsible as an individual for both the decline of The Simpsons AND its interminable length thinks the show is out of steam, that is saying something.

The renewal for two more seasons came out of left field and compared to other renewals of the show, is fairly small too.

IIRC, the renewal came about before the Disney/FOX merger was put into action. I'm not sure if it happened before the negotiations for the merger began, but who knows?

My best guess is that once The Simpsons goes live for Disney's new streaming service, we'll probably see a new update on the future of the show. It's quite possible that Season 32 could be the last one, with a possible movie that summer.

While Disney does have a bad habit for running acquired IP's into the ground, the only real backlash they have faced is with the newer Star Wars movies, and The Simpsons is in a different situation than either Star Wars or Marvel.

The MCU has been a success since its inception (barring the 2008 Hulk movie, which predated the Disney buyout) and even with its obnoxious hipster fanbase and certain later "woke" movies like Black Panther and Captain Marvel, it is still a cash cow (although it's possible Captain Marvel could have failed had they not placed it directly between Infinity War and End Game) and as such, Disney has no reason to believe the MCU will backfire on them yet.

Star Wars was already languishing as a franchise because of the prequels, but a lot of the blame was placed on George Lucas. Initially, people were excited for the New Trilogy and Rogue One in particular got a lot of acclaim.

It wasn't until The Last Jedi got such a controversial reception and Solo under-performed at the box office that Disney saw that they were fucking up.

As such, they're scaling down a lot of the Star Wars attractions at their parks.

Unlike Star Wars, there's no scapegoat creator you can lay the misfortunes of the series on like you could with Lucas.

Al Jean comes close, but a lot of fans say that the show was going downhill before he took over completely and the show was too long running that it would go downhill anyway. Disney knows this.

TL;DR-The Simpsons are going to streaming! Expect Disney to make a major announcement about the franchise when it happens. Hopefully, the end will come at sundown (or Season 32)

'The Cartridge Family' is the most infamous example. The bit at the end where Marge goes to bin the gun? Channel 4 spliced it poorly to look like she actually did bin the gun.

Funnily they left the British shop getting blown up in the St Patrick's Day parade in the Prohibition episode though. That was the only joke I remember the BBC not showing.

That is the most British edit I could ever imagine for the Simpsons...only way it could have been better is if the episode was about knives.
