What does "pull from circulation" mean with that Michael Jackson episode? Of course it means it won't air anymore, but will it no longer be available on media like DVD?

And since when did people start censoring a work of someone because of their character -- even when it has no bearing on the work?
I assume they mean from syndication - it would take time to revise the DVD sets. Like how the pulled Homer Simpson vs. the City of New York after September 11th.

And we live in a post-modern age where art and arguments are judged by who makes or says something, not its content.

I think they just won't be re-running it. I get them trying to avoid any controversy by airing it again (because it is ~ CURRENT YEAR after all) but it's pretty pointless at the end of the day.

Nah, I think the home video releases will be unaffected (since those aren't in production anymore). It's the reruns and streaming that probably won't keep happening. Though given how they don't rerun the old seasons that often to begin with, it probably isn't a big loss. But it's annoying and clearly intended to pander to those involved with this round of allegations.

If you read the article Tim Pool cites, they also plan to remove it from Simpsons World (streaming) and from future dvd reissues. It'll be interesting to know if the episode deletion also includes people who already purchased the digital episode from iTunes and Amazon.

Depends on how episode downloading on those sites work.

Though this begs the question over whether or not this would give Disney/Fox incentive with regards of removing other "problematic" episodes from here on out for future releases and streaming.

On one hand I could normally understand "hey wait maybe reminding people of the time we basically glorified the guy now known to be a creepy pedo isn't such a good look" it's not like MJ heeheeing little boys is a new concept. As pointed out, that episode with Bart's soul made light of the idea of Jackson being a threat to children only a few years later, and all this time they've been fine with leaving his episode in rotation.

It's just hilarious how people today don't know how to separate the work from the person. If MJ actually molested children during the voice recording of the show, then I guess it's understandable to pull it from existence, but pulling it because of mere allegations? Dude. Really, if we're gonna wipe from existence every creative work that's made by a "problematic" creator, we'd probably be deleting a third of all TV shows and movies minimum. So many people worked on those that some of them has got to have their own dark secrets, be it a Hollywood power-broker or some random key grip personnel.
Is it worth pointing out that Dr Hibbert was created as a parody of Bill Cosby?

How the fuck did this get through the censors? (look at the cat's necklace)

Jesus fucking christ...how the hell is it that even when unknowingly(?) going full on /pol/ complete with fucking juden-stars the Simpsons manages to be terminally unfunny and misery inducing?

Oh I can believe it...

I'm a little confused at that statement.
My guess would be he means they scraped Lisa down to the barest means of characterization, to where she's just "Person Who Cites Issue X/Y/Z". Now even in the Golden Age Lisa was the most socially conscious character. But there was more going on than that. She was introverted, craved positive reinforcement, liked violent cartoons and junk food, and most importantly could empathize with people. If "Lisa the Iconoclast" came out today, it would just end with Homer telling her to put a sock in it while she scowls at the morons hero-worshipping this pirate.
