I gotta say #JusticeForApu on Twitter is really funny. Latin America is very upset by what happened to Apu.

Rest in Peace Apu. You were a pretty cool guy.

Kinda makes me wonder what *is* a good representation of Indians for these guys. I remember growing up and just thinking "Oh, he has brown skin and a different accent, and he's fun to watch and listen to." And "Oh, I hope things go well for him regarding his marriage/job/whatever."

Never did I once think that he's how every Indian is or that he's offensive.

Just kinda glad The Simpsons is basically just a rotting husk of what it once was, otherwise, I'd probably be a bit more disappointed by this news.

The most disgusting part of this is that they can't even be bothered to give Apu, one of their most prominent and memorable side characters, a dignified send-off, they're just gonna write him off the show just like that. At least with Mrs. Krabappel, Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure, they couldn't give them a proper send-off because their voice actors had died. Apu's voice actor, on the other hand, is very much alive, which just makes this whole thing really disgraceful.

They should send off Apu in the most offensive way possible and then dedicate the entire episode to Hari.
Just to give their true opinion on that entire shit show.

Mrs. Krabappel didn't get much of a proper sendoff, but the show did quite a few nice things in her memory.

Other than that, I totally agree with you. Apu was one of the more fleshed-out characters on the show, and probably one of the few with any meaningful growth that wasn't retconned later down the line (i.e. Barney's alcoholism going away then coming back).

So when Dan dies do they just stop having Homer show up or something?
God I so hope for a full season with the kids constantly refering to 'Homers golf trip' and every episode being centred around a rapidly dying Marge taking care of the kids (her obvious throat cancer).

What do you mean? Explain.
Marge was jealous of Helen's tranny mum\dad and so tried to hook Grandpa up with men. Fairly ridiculous, also an ep where Helen and the Reverend wear BDSM gear. They're supposed to be the moral centre of the town for Christ's sake, remember the Burlesque house?

Kill him like Chef in South Park.

Holy shit, this sounds like bad fanfiction.

The show is a husk of itself anyway. Fox only keeps it on because its basically an institution and for prestige points. Its like Saturday Night Live, its long lived past the point of where it was decent and just lumbers on for just because.

They dumped Apu near instantly because its not worth the hassle for them to keep him around and take on the bad press. The show is creatively bankrupt anyway and relies on topical humor that's fucking ancient by the time the episodes are out.

South Park fucking outclasses the Simpsons by a huge amount and still manages to be relevant. The Simpsons is basically the VA's collecting a paycheck. It'll die only when the creators finally decide enough or the VAs are getting paid too much that it outclasses what little profit it brings in.

Close, but they really keep it around for the merchandise. They make a billion a year just in merch.

The problem with the last point is that:

a) Matt's not really working on the show anymore. So it'd be up to Jean and Selman (the current showrunners) to decide. And unless they plan for Season 30 to be the end, that ain't happening.
and b) Fox is owned by (or at least, will soon be owned by) Disney. And unless something happens along the way, they're going to keep the show alive and maybe even pay the actors more. They are a multi-billion dollar organization after all.

Though I do wonder something- Are the high wages just for the core cast? Or do the supporting and guest actors get the amount the main six do?

So, a while back, Hari tweeted this in response to South Park’s “The Problem with a Poo”.

Something tells me he completely missed the point.
