Simpsons skateboarding.

As for Wrestling, I remember giving up on it because I could never get past Mr. Burns.

Ah yes, Skateboarding.

Another game that I hold some nostalgia for but I can agree is also pretty terrible.

At the very least, I liked the main theme.

Simpsons Wrestling is pretty widely panned, but those old Acclaim games were impressively shit in a lot of different ways and looked like total crap until the SNES.

I heard that Flanders was top tier in the wrestling game. Man, those old Simpsons games...

What a weirdly mediocre licensed IP. For the other big licensed there was usually at least one good game or two like with TMNT or Batman. I'm a defender of the NES Nightmare on Elm Street game (the DOS game is pretty good too for what it is).

I played Bart VS the World and couldn't get past The Great Wall level because of the horrible hit-detection. I remember the 16 bit games more and Bart's Nightmare is kind of maybe decent-ish? At least two of the mini-games are fun. I remember beating enough of the mini games where I got a C grade on the paper and I thought "Yeah, I beat the game. Because in the show that's a pass and that's realistically what Bart would get." Virtual Bart was dog shit but the mini-game where you throw the giant tomatoes at people was great.

I also played the Krusty game on the NES which was pretty mediocre.

I hate to say I got "Bart vs. The Space Mutants" and "Bart vs. The World" mixed up in my head because of how bland both titles were. Those game just reek of it.

They were made by the same developers I think and even used the same sprites.

Acclaim made them, at least all the NES ones. Almost everyone I knew as a kid had Bart vs. Space Mutants. I think it was mainly for the novelty and coolness of having a Simpsons game, because as far as I can remember, nobody ever got past the second level.

I think another kid in my scout troop had Virtual Bart. For whatever reason, aside from Space Mutants, Simpsons games never really caught on at my school.

I don't think I got past the first! I probably had more luck with the second game.

nobody ever got past the second level.
I made it to the museum occasionally and once to the plant.

The theory of "Bart interacts with a bunch of shit and goofy things happen" was a good one, but the things that happened were boring, the graphics were ugly, and the controls were shit.

iirc it suffered from "platform or background element?" A lot too.

I like the x-ray specs mechanic, but the controls, especially jumping are awful. That and it's not usually obvious what you need to do. Which sucks because you die in one hit.

Bart vs the world got rid of anything new and interesting and is basically just a generic platformer with Simpsons characters added.

Indeed he was.

He had a move where he spent three seconds praying and lightning bolts constantly hit his opponents for ten seconds I think. Could not be dodged.

And this wasn’t some super move or final smash either. This could be used any time.

Only way to stop him it’s to hit him mid prayer. And good luck doing that consistently.

That's only really the first level, really. The levels after that are even more boring and shit. And when I say levels I mean two levels because who the fuck can beat Krustyland? It's fucking impossible.

Don’t forget Flanders would get resurrected by God. So you had him pin him twice.

Kinda sad we never got a mindnumbingly stupid Simpsons RPG now.

Holy shit, I've never played Simpsons Wrestling, but Flanders sounds more like an extremely cheap end boss to the arcade mode, not a character available to the player.

To be fair, you did have to unlock him before you could actually play as him.

Although I recall you have to beat the hardest level arcade mode first.

Speaking of extremely cheap end bosses, you also got to fight Smithers and Mr. Burns. The former is the one you have to fight while the latter constantly lobs beakers that have a massive AOE explosion that's pretty obnoxious to avoid.

Thinking about it now, there really isn't much in the way of actual "wrestling" in that game.

Flanders is sixty years old and very sexy and alwahs muscular and in one episode Marge wants to kiss him while eating strawberry and cream but then in another episode she attacks him with a bottle and yeah Flanders is a gery good character.
