It's still funny to me that the show itself had the worst response to the Apu controversy. Like they just removed the character altogether when the idiot who made the doc basically wanted Apu to be the greatest guy ever.

Given it was modern Simpsons this really should've been easy for them since they pander to leftists and celebrities all the time. So just erasing the character of Apu altogether was retarded. No one who is for or against the Apu documentary wanted that. It was the dumbest response they could've made.

Either way it doesn't matter, Modern Simpsons sucks and all the Simpsons family voice actors sound like they're on death's door.

Why didn't they keep Apu but remove all the black characters instead

I always had the feeling Al Jean took that approach purely to spite the fans.

He's done similar shit before like with the episode where Krusty's dad died. Same reason why he still keeps "Stark Raving Dad" banned even after the "Leaving Neverland" guys got outed as frauds because he knows that Stark Raving Dad is one of the most beloved episodes among fans.

Long before GG or any of today's petty culture war stupidity, Al Jean was all about "trigger the fans, own the fans" all because of some old Usenet comments trashing an episode he wrote. Yes, really.

It got worse after the movie was released since the last of the old guard writers from the Golden Age and Silver Age/Scully years were fully gone after the movie and nobody could tard wrangle Al Jean.

While Zombie Simpsons was inevitable due to how long the show has been running, Al Jean is a major reason for why the show got as bad as it did. If the decline of The Simpsons can be blamed on one person, it's him.
