Strap in boys. Looks like there's going to be a new contender for the worst Simpsons episode.

Is this going to be another episode where a member of the Simpsons family hypes up whatever popular celebrity there is at the time. Like we already had the Lady Gaga and Elon Musk dickriding episodes, so I guess Lizzo is next.

I think Homer Goes to College is my favorite episode of that season.

i think my favorite part about that episode is as out there as it is they still have homer redo college because thats the most realistically responsible thing that could happen in the logic of the show. i then like that he seemed to have patched up with the dean and ends up flashing everyone on graduation

And don't forget the part when the nerds turned off the tv when Bart and Lisa watched the episode where Scratchy finally get its revenge on Itchy.

That legit pissed me off because I genuinely wanted to see Scratchy win for once.

You're not the only one who wanted to see Scratchy win for once.
Same here. To quote Old Man Homer:
"Itchy's a jerk."

Would have preferred a sort of Spy vs Spy deal where they more or less take turns being the victor in their never ending struggle. Or at least have Scratchy be the obvious aggressor and deserve the death. Half the time he isn't doing shit to Itchy and Itchy is just a fucking psychopath.

It's kinda the same reason I never really liked Bugs Bunny in a lot of his cartoons. It's one thing when Elmer Fudd is actively trying to kill him for sport, but it's another when he's the instigator and I'm expected to root for him despite him being a fucking asshole.

There was too shorts where Elmer Fudd won against Bugs Bunny, it was "Hare Brush" and "Rabbit Rampage". Too bad then Yosemite Sam and Daffy Duck didn't won one round against Bugs Bunny.

Yosemite Sam was created for this very reason

I never minded Scratchy always losing because it was meant to be a so over-the-top parody I couldn't see Scratchy as anything but a plot device, same as Itchy. Not at all like Tom and Jerry themselves in that sense.

Pretty much, I think there's very few examples of Itchy and Scratchy being funny on its own. "Itchy & Scratchy Land" along with "Itchy and Scratchy The Movie" have amusing moments with the characters but it's more of a plot device to give The Simpsons characters depth as you get to see what stupid content they watch. South Park did more or less the same thing with Terrance and Philip.

Now McBain on the otherhand is a hilarious satire of Arnold/Stallone action movies. And I found it amazing to discover that they actually form a cohesive parody of the 80s Action genre.
