I'm watching old Simpsons episodes every once in a while. It's amazing how much Lisa devolved from an ordinary kid to author avatar.
She is truly awful. She started to suck even during Good Simpsons, but now she's a disgusting self-centered, sociopath. She hates her own family and gets jealous when something good happens to one of them instead of her. She literally thinks she's better than everyone else. She physically abuses Bart and the show doesn't allow him to hit back anymore. I could go on forever.

I don't know why Bart is considered the bad one when Lisa acts like she does.

It's alright but that "Conservative bad" (even if technically the Democrats weren't portrayed as significantly less corrupt) was a sign of horrors to come.

Given the mainstream wing of the GOP back in 1995 was largely the party of theocrats like Pat Buchanan and corrupt neocons like the Bushes as well as certain modern-day Uniparty guys like Mitch McConnell, I can give them a pass.

Even the Democrat moral guardians like Joe Lieberman and Tipper Gore were from the centrist wing of the party at the time and often collaborated with the Religious Right and the neocons as well.

As you said, in the same episode, they also mocked the Democrats for being corrupt and incompetent virtue signalers, especially with Mayor Quimby's entire character in the show's early years being a dig at Ted Kennedy. So it can be chalked up to being a product of a different time.

The Simpsons in the 90's also took a lot of digs at Bill Clinton, more than any other show, now that I think of it.

Even King of the Hill didn't take near as many jabs at Clinton in the 90's and that was a show where the main protagonist was a literal conservative suburbanite Boomer who was both portrayed in a very sympathetic light and as the usual voice of reason.

Lisa's Substitute is up with Mother Simpson for emotionally resonating episodes without sacrificing the comedic formula, but it showed the fine line Lisa as a character titters on before becoming arrogant, ungrateful, and as stated on here, a self-insert for females who don't feel appreciated enough by their supposedly backwards thinking, hick families.

That episode about the male Simpsons having a stupid gene is a classic era episode which I find quite insulting in both its wraparound ending ('only the men are dumb') and its smugness. Does Bart have no future because he isn't as smart as Lisa? I know the future episodes tend to balance it out with Bart and Lisa, but that episode seems so depressingly sure of Lisa being perfect in spite of her family. It is disregarding of Lisa's Pony and Lisa the Beauty Queen where Lisa still acts like a child who loves her dad and not as a too deep for you teenager.

Personally, I always liked Bart Gets an F. It features what I think Bart is as a character. A prankster, not the brightest, sure, but he has goals and feels insecure like most of us in life. I think it is a popular episode for that reason. If you grew up with The Simpsons, I'm sure you had a situation similar as Bart at school. It does have a universal feeling Lisa's Substitute in some respects lacks.

And we got a preview of things to come when Lisa become vegetarian and meet Paul and Linda McCartney at the top of Apu's Kwik-E-Mart.

Which is funny because McCartney threatened to not do the show if Lisa didn't stay vegetarian.
Which was both unreasonable and reasonable.

Sure, as a guest star he had no right to demand a long term change to the show, but also I wouldn't like to have a strongly held belief used in such a way.

I saw an article that i guess current fans of the Simpsons are mad about the tiktok guest apperance and demanding that Disney end the show. Is this a new thing now for people to say that disney killed the Simpsons when its been bad for an extremely long time?

Care to share?

It’s honestly sad and funny how it took till Disney buying the Simpsons for people to realize the show is shit now.

the one where they made Grampa gay.

Eh, not to go "Well, ackshually..." but if it's the one I'm thinking about, I don't think Grandpa Simpson was actually retconned as being gay.

IIRC, a closeted gay man mistook his friendly gestures and kissed him back in the 40's and the man got fired from his job after Abe reported him, which gave him a sense of deep guilt.

Basically, the episode was Grampa Simpson trying to make peace with that gay man and that was about it. Unless Zombie Simpsons did yet another follow up, and I would not be surprised if they did.

The episode itself was a shitty episode, typical Zombie Simpsons pablum,

That's the one. It was still shitty and I'm sure Grampa kissed him at the end.

That's what I liked about golden age Bart. Sure he was a prankster who sometimes went too far but deep down he was still a good kid. Just look at Marge be not proud. He realized he crossed the line and screwed up big time and so tried to make it right, admitably not the most realistic outcome but it was a feels moment. Same for episodes like Bart the mother or even as far back as the telltale head.

McCartney has been a fag about shit like that for years.

For example, Weird Al doesn't need permission to release his song parodies but he makes sure to get it anyway because he's a classy guy. McCartney refused to give him permission to release a song called "Chicken Pot Pie" because it went against his vegetarianism or some bullshit like that, even though Al is also a vegetarian, he just isn't a sanctimonious prick who gets triggered by silly chicken noises.
