The Simpsons hasn't been good since 19 dickity two, we had to use the word dickity because the Kaiser had stolen our word for twenty.

I chased that rascal to get it back but gave up after dickity six miles.
 
I find it calming that The Simpsons has gone bad for so long that we've finally accepted that it sucks and can accept it. Hate that the original 90s run has lost so much cultural relevancy because surely most kids today will never get into it since your odds of catching a Shitsons episode so heavily outweighs the odds of seeing a good one. But what can you do?

Anyway watched War of the Simpsons again, Maude entrapped Homer with those titties.

Having Homer look like a "New Yorker" Socialite in his drunken memory was a great gag.

Remember that episode where a hurricane hits Springfield and Ned goes off on the town for the shoddy rebuild of the house? That episode resonates to me for two aesops in life.

Everybody has a breaking point in life, and all it takes is ONE insignificant thing on top of everything else for them to potentially snap.


Homer had a great point too, despite being Flanders' repressed source of frustration. Sometimes, you just have to be angry so it won't bottle up much later. Controlled anger.

 
And we've really elevated the level of discourse at the dog track.

We've replaced the fanfare with classical music, and instead of chasing a rabbit, the dogs chase a diploma.

I was going to mock this for not even slightly nailing the original mood, but the fact it gets more shit the more you look at it lends it a certain charm.

I actually kind of wonder what it would have been like if Homer had been ghiblified too. The original shot is so distincive I wonder if I'd have recognized it?

But yeah the gag of Homer still exactly the same really sells the joke

Disney is really playing with fate renewing the show for another four years. Statistically someone is going to die within that time. Then what? Even more wrong-sounding characters?
