This might be my favorite ending bit out of the entire series

Yes, this should provide adequate sustenance for the Doctor Who marathon.
Still not over how russian dub (beside calling tacos burgers) made this into him preparing for literal marathon.

Also, just saw that episode where, at one point, there are two boxes of old schoolbooks, with older being labled "Too racist" and ones from 90s "Not racist enough". And this is in a crappy Season 18 episode. I wonder if this gets cut nowadays.

Season 18 was right at the very start of true and honest "Zombie Simpsons" back in 2007 or so. They were making fun of the old PC culture of the 90's and now seems very tame by comparison.

Hard to believe 2007 was almost a decade and a half ago,

God, the movie's almost 15 now. Time's a hell of a thing, isn't it?

I'll never forget seeing the movie in theaters. There was a Comic Book Guy looking nerd sitting in the row in front of us who yelled out, "YESSSSSSSSSSSS!" twice, once when Martin beat the shit out of the bullies and during the end credits when Maggie took her pacifier out and said, "Sequel?"

There's always one of 'em.

I remembered seeing the movie with my family in a drive-in theatre. It was probably the last time I've seen a film there and it probably isn't as good (especially with that whole Alaska part of the film being rather weak), but it was a decent film.

It was OK for what it was, and should have definitely been the end of the series. The way Springfield was destroyed really felt like some sort of "closure", for lack of a better word.

It's like, "Finally! After a decade and a half of rumors, The Simpsons has its own movie!"
"Great! That means it's the finale, right?"
"..."

I remember at the time, everyone felt that the movie wasn't going to be the finale but more like a setup for an actual finale. I think a lot of people figured they'd finally put an end to it once they made it to 20 seasons since they would've matched Gunsmoke in terms of how many seasons it ran.

Fun fact about a simpsons movie. the season 4 episode camp krusty was going to be a 94 theathrical movie but it never made it past an episode because the writewrs struggled to think of how to get the spisode to 22 minutes let alone an hour and a half.

but yeah ngl i can kinda see the general outline of the plot being a kids adventure/summer movie in the 90s. you actually had a lot of them at the time be they well known hits like thew sandlot in 92 or obscure one offs like bushwhacked...hell just make meatballs with the simpsons.

The dumbest part about the Simpsons movie is how the writers originally planned on Hank Scorpio being the villain but dropped it due to how likeable he is when that would've made a more interesting movie and been funnier than what we got.

I have a theory about that and it ties into my theory that the movie was supposed to be a setup for a finale as opposed to an actual finale.

Maybe they wanted Scorpio to be around as the bad guy in Season 20 for the finale but when that idea was scrapped, it was too late and they just rolled with making Russ Cargill into a discount Hank Scorpio,

Even funnier is that comics showed that they could easily bring him back and keep all the traits from his original appearance. They even had him still be friends with Homer despite him foiling Scorpio's plans on occasion.

watching Season 11 ep 13 Saddlesore Galactica (the horse racing one)
I was surprised to realize it was so old that Maude was still alive and Clinton was still president.
edit - next was the one where Maude dies

I distinctly remember my dad howling with laughter whenever he first heard Bill Clinton say, "Well, I'm a pretty lousy president" at the end of the episode. It was freaky.
