I will agree on the fact that those seasons are weaker overall. But at the same time they still had some really good episodes here and there and funny moments even in episodes that sucked. Not to forget it was still overall of higher quality than Simpsons if you ask me.

Some of the references are kind of on the nose and topical. The 3012 Martian Apocalypse shit and the EyePhone are good examples.

Though it feels a little weird to get worked up about topical references when the earlier seasons had Al Gore as a recurring guest star.

Eh I feel like topical references can be funny if they're well written. This one for example still slays me.

Man, I remember getting PISSED as a kid when the new episodes of The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and/or Futurama got cut because of the Superbowl or the Oscars, or whatever went into overtime or some dipshit actor went over the speech time limit.
 
We truly live in the golden age of entertainment.

I'm so glad Futurama ended before its legacy was tarnished. It's last two or three seasons after the movies were horrible. Full of Simpsons-like Apple references etc, losing all the charm of the earlier seasons... Though they did have a few good eps, e.g. Game of Tones ending.

The episodes on Fox were great (Seasons 1 to 4). After those don't bother. The DVD movies gave me cancer.
