Simpsons producers tease second movie and say second it is in 'early stages'
It's been 10 years since The Simpsons was last on cinema screens, and following its success many have touted the possibility of a sequel.
Last year, producer Al Jean suggested there could be another one on the way, though only provided it was going to be really good.
Well, Jean and fellow producer David Silverman have once again raised the idea of a second film based on The Simpsons, though suggested it was quite a way off yet.
"I'd love for there to be another one," Silverman told Entertainment Weekly. "We're still a ways away from it.
"We talk about this and that. We're thinking it over, but nothing's happening just yet….. It's still daunting because it really knocked the stuffing out of us to do the movie and the show at the same time."
Jean added that the movie had been discussed "just in the vaguest strokes, just in the possibility of it", adding: "I'd say [it's in] the very earliest stages."
It was previously revealed that a season 26 episode where Kang and Kodos take Homer and the family was touted as a movie idea, though was later used as an episode.
"I certainly am cautious about a couple things," Jean added. "I wouldn't want it to be risky in terms of budget, and I would not want it to be anything that we did purely for the money. I would want it to be a really great movie. I personally feel no need for another one unless it's great."
Meanwhile, at Comic-Con last week Jean revealed that the show turned down a guest appearance from Donald Trump many years ago.
Producer Bill Oakley later tweeted: "I continue to thank God that Donald Trump was never invited to do a voice on The Simpsons even during the brief period when he was popular."
Trump has been given various appearances since, though they are not exactly as the president would have liked. And we love The Simpsons even more for it.
Goatse. If they make another movie how do they follow up on Bart's dong?

I suppose we aught to be lucky we saw a character be anatomically correct at all a decade back. They don't because in the #woke year of 2017 a three second shot of Bart's limp cock for comedic effect will cause the hymens of a million virgins to burst and as the world drowns in a sea of menstrual blood amid the anguished cries of "The Simpsons Movie 2 raped me!" a panicked Donald Trump wakes up in a cold sweat and utters, "So it has begun, the great shitlordening, praise Kek!"
First movie was ok, it was better than the last 15 or so seasons.
Unless this movie's going to tie everything up and end the show. Then I agree. This is standard with a dying TV series. Have a half-decent movie and then the series itself goes to absolute, utter shit.
Now they're just suckling at the fluids of the corpse, though. This is a horrible idea.
If the mere sight of that resulted in SolidMario's fetish for Bart Simpson, I wonder what kind of lolcow could be generated by a second movie?I suppose we aught to be lucky we saw a character be anatomically correct at all a decade back.
I thought of that too. It just comes off like lazy writing the way they go about it today on the show. It's as if nobody wants to dare add in those layers. That rewritten airport joke actually made me laugh pretty hard. It's interesting how just a small change in the punchline can change it from being dumb to brilliant, but even more interesting that the modern Simpsons writers don't even bother making such small changes.
Eh, I wouldn't say it's about the dosage as much as it is about context.Interestingly I feel a lot of what plagues current modern Simpsons episodes that fans dislike is also found in doses in the earlier seasons - wacky plots, Homer changing jobs, celebrity guest stars (Marge vs the Monorail is exactly the three things combined, yet everybody calls that episode a classic).
I guess the difference is they were still in small doses compared to nowadays, that almost every episode is a mixture of the three.
