People are annoyed that Disney+ has cropped and stretched old episodes from 4:3 ratio to widescreen. Making it uglier and losing some great sight gags. Example:

Didn't FX do this same exact thing? Or was their cropping different than the Disney+ cropping?
I'm not sure as i haven't watched them myself, though looking at the sugarposting video above it might be the same version. A bunch of those shots are too close and have obviously been cropped. This might've only been written as an article to shit on Disney as it's been an easy target this year. I thought it was a new issue.

This is why you should buy the DVDs so corporations like Disney can never take the originals away from you.

Unfortunately, those DVDs can also be expensive due to being out of print.

So according to r/simpsons the censorship everyone feared finally happened. The Cartridge Family, Stark Raving Dad, and Homer Badman are unavailable on Disney+

Well....I was going to get Disney+ but fuck this.

Are they going to pull the reruns of Homer Badman and The Cartridge Family from FXX now?

Between the MCU, Nu-Star Wars, and this, I utterly despise Disney now.

Since nobody's going to bust Disney's growing monopoly on the entertainment industry, all I can hope for is that we get Homer Badman and The Cartridge Family back on the streaming service eventually.

It sounds unlikely, but if there's enough of a backlash against woke culture, we might see those two episodes put back in streaming and rotation, especially Homer Badman since it's only getting censored because of the Me Too witch hunt.

Stark Raving Dad is less likely to return because of Michael Jackson's mere presence. Even before Leaving Neverland, he was a controversial figure after his 1993 court case.

I'm just glad I got the season 6 boxset when I did so I can say fuck you to Disney and watch it when I damn well please.

Unfortunately, I don't have season 2 or 9 which has the other episodes.
Reminded I once had a VCD from Malaysia with The Cartridge Family on it. It was part of a release that gave you a few other noted episodes along the same lines.

I expected Stark Raving Dad's omission, but it's still pretty shitty.

I'm pretty fortunate that I have the first 10 or so seasons on DVD. Only problem is that one of the disks in my Season 4 box somehow got a scratch so it won't play Lisa's First Word in full.

That sucks. I caught that episode a while back and it's a classic. It was made during a time when the show knew how to be emotional without becoming sappy while also still being funny.

It's a great episode. There's that Olympic Big Mac promotion parody, "Can't sleep, clown will eat me," Elizabeth Taylor as Maggie... Just so many good things in one episode. I might go on eBay and see if I can find a replacement disk for cheap.

One thing that definitely wouldn't fly today from that episode was the joke about how Homer's cousin Frank slept in the same room as his parents all this life. But don't worry, he turned out fine! He's now Francine! And he joined a cult!
