Great read. I am not a Texans fan, but some people I love very dearly are and this is their assessment as well. It reminds me of the LOB to be honest, the blatant "Fuck you, stop us." philosophy that is always a thrill to watch.

Nothing against clever blitz packages and secondary swaps, but being blatant and still succeeding is kind of awesome. Demeco is already the GOAT Texans coach.
The advantage of avoiding stunts, blitzes, doubles, and fancy coverages is that it takes advantage of the best traits of NFL defenders while ignoring the worst one: IQ. You can't forget what play you're running and leave a dude wide open when you're running Cover-1 man on every down.

I still can't believe Miami fired Mike McDaniel. At least give him 1 season with someone other than Tua.
Confession: I am dumb, i should have looked what hes first name was because knowing his last name sometimes made me confuse him with McDaniels (which I had not head of since the end of the 2023 season and him being fired by the Raiders and only learned today he ended up the Patriots OC)

I don't think Mike McDaniel deserved another year. Tua being retarded certainly didn't help matters, but there were so many times where McDaniel was simply overwhelmed and had no clue what he was doing. Great X's and O's guy, wouldn't say he's a shining example of strong leadership. I feel like younger guys who flop in their first chance at being a head coach shouldn't right away get another head coaching gig. Get back to doing what you do best, regain confidence and learn from your mistakes. After another stint as an OC and a couple more years of maturity, McDaniel will get another chance.

He lost the locker room and there's no way to really recover from that. When two guys go into motion in the same direction it's indicative of them just not giving a shit.

Tua started off this season acting extremely weird, whether it's the head injuries or Tyreek being locker room cancer and rubbing off on people I don't know but McDaniel definitely isn't the guy to keep them corralled.

There's nobody better out there. There are 9 HC openings and the Dolphins are in one of the least desirable situations. We're going to get the dregs. McDaniel can field a competitive team that won't be an embarrassment like the Jets. Give him a go without Tua and a new GM that's not an idiot like Grier was and see what he can do.

McDaniels seems to have realized that his strength is as an OC and finally accepted that. I think he won't be leaving New England anytime soon, and probably will not be leaving to become a head coach elsewhere.

Ego's too great and NFL is tarded and will absolutely give him another shot at HC soon enough. There's a reason playbooks are the size of cars now and it's not because overly humble coaches truly feel all those elaborate plays are necessary.

Superb Owl prediction: Broncos beat the Rams 13 - 10.

Norv Turner kind of figured it out and stuck as a coordinator after the Chargers. Kubiak too, he basically only came back to ride the 2015 Broncos to a ring and then said "I'm only taking coordinator jobs now".
I'm just saying, Gase lost his chances after two flameouts. Nobody's even picking up when Hue Jackson calls. McDaniels is now at 2 dramatic flameout jobs where he pissed off the entire locker room in the span of 18 months, and what he did to the Colts was even more egregious. I hope he's pulled a Turner and just settled into the idea that he's better fit, avoids drama, and still makes beaucoup bucks as a coordinator instead of going more on a Gase/Hue track.

We fired McDaniel as soon as Harbaugh was available, only to not get him. Now McDaniel is easily the hottest HC available and we're almost guaranteed to end up with someone worse for no reason. This fucking team, man.

We're interviewing Saleh who I think would be a good fit with the culture issues we have.
